Snowboard Tricks

When I decided I wanted to learn some snowboarding tricks to impress the ladies I hunted around for someone who could show me the ropes.

When you're past 40 this can be a bit of a challenge because snowboarding is dominated by the young. Much of the information is written in the foreign jargon that young snowboarders speak. But hey, who says they have to have all the fun?

This guy John Childs-Eddy is THE man.

First I watched his trick videos. It was great being able to back-track and replay each trick so I could really see and understand what I had to do.

My wife thought I was going mad with all the thumping as I leaped around the spare room where I do my computer stuff, trying out and practicing.

Then, when I got to the snow, I plugged in my MP3 player and he followed me round the mountain and coached me one-on-one. It was fantastic.

By the end of the day I was shagged out, but happy. I couldn't do all of the tricks, but I'd had a great time learning a few and there was much to look forward to tomorrow.

And later that night in a bar a very pretty young lady came up to me and started to chat. She said she'd seen me on the slopes and asked me for some tips.

How cool is that!
