Snowboarding for Beginners

Ranked #10,911 in Sports & Recreation, #270,312 overall

Why It's Essential to Learn the Basics.

Snowboarding has quickly taken over on the ski hills and I would say that at least 50% of riders on the mountains these days are snowboarders, and of them I would say that at least 50% of them are snowboarding beginners. And why not? Snowboarding is such a blast and over the years it has developed its own style. With all of the beginner snowboarders out there you want to progress as fast as possible. I know, because I have been there. Everybody's has to start at the bottom and the quicker you learn the basics of snowboarding, the faster you will move from being a snowboarding beginner (newb) to a hill shredding pro.

One of the downfalls for beginners looking for snowboard lessons is that they can be so expensive that you can't do it all that often. And if you go out on your own, it can be discouraging if you don't know what you are doing.   And while snowboarding is "easy" once you learn how to do it, it takes a a bit of effort and it can be a bumpy ride. So having tips and techniques and lessons at your disposal really helps speed the process up for beginning snowboarders.

If you want to reduce the time you spend on your butt then you should follow these snowboarding for beginners tips

Snowboard Addiction

Snowboard Addiction

The most comprehensive snowboard program

As a snowboarder myself I gotta tell you that the Snowboard Addiction program is seriously good, especially if you are just starting out and don't know a lick about snowboarding. It breaks everything right down for you to the very baby steps. And then it goes all the way up to the pro levels involving how to pull crazy tricks. I mean they use those sequential slow motion picturese to show how to do tricks. And their website has 5 videos just on the very basics of turning, carving, getting up, even getting off of the chairlift.

My favourite feature about this snowboard lesson program is that they also give you the audio and video files in podcast form so you can take it with you on the mountain. It's like having your own teacher with you for private lessons.

Oh ya and one more excellent feature of these lessons is that they come in both regular footed and goofy footed versions. That meas that if you ride with your right foot forward then you download the video versions for goofy footed people. Or if you ride left foot forward, you get the regular footed videos.

Once you progress and are able to ride down the hill, turn, carve, take small jumps, and generally shred willingly, you can make the move to the next level. Snowboard Addiction has a course for intermediate riders who are ready crank it up a notch and start busting some serious moves in the parks. But we will cross that bridge when we get there. After one solid season of riding and following this course there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to amp it up in the next season.

Is it worth it?

I have been teaching snowboarding now for the last 4 years and I really have to say that as far as value for money is concerned Snowboard Addiction is up there right at the top. They offer both beginner and advanced packages, and then for both of those you have 2 options.

#1. Choose the DOWNLOADABLE VERSION

#2. Choose the Deluxe PACKAGE which includes
-DVD of the video tutorials in HD
-The audio and video podcasts on another disc
-Stickers from Snowboard Addiction and Burton.

Whichever option you choose, the information is awesome and will have you well beyond the beginner stage in no time. Soon you are going to have to go out and buy your own equipment.

I had to teach myself to ride, I never got lessons and I never had anybody giving me an tips. It hurt like mad because I didn't know what I was doing wrong and I kept bailing. Eventually I got the hang of it and now I am a qualified instructor, but I bet that I would have progressed way faster in the beginning if I had had some sort of program or guidance to help me out.

You really do need somebody to coach you along the way. But what if you can't afford to have a teacher all of the time. I know that I couldn't afford it, even a group lesson costs over a hundred dollars for a day!! That is why this downloadable course which offers video and audio is so fantastic. You can take it with you on the hill and watch the lessons while you are on the chairlift or just sitting on the side of the hill.
