Every Snowflake is Beautiful and Unique
Decorating a Christmas tree is a tradition that grew out of Germany in the 1800's. The first trees were decorated with apples and nuts, a symbol of the renewal of life. Although the ground was barren through the winter, spring would come and the cycle of life would continue.
Christmas ornaments have changed over the years. The fruits and nuts gave way to handmade angels and popcorn balls. Today there are so many ornaments available that choosing a few to add to a family's collection is not easy. Of my family's collection of ornaments, the ones I hold dear are the angels and my snowflakes.
Like the snowflake, no two people are exactly alike. We are all unique. It doesn't matter if we are young or old, black, white, blue or green. God loves us and sent his only son to shoulder the burden of our sins and die that we may live.

How a Snowflake Forms
Snow crystals or snowflakes are formed when tiny droplets of water are supercooled. This supercooled droplet forms the nucleus of the snowflake with a crystal lattice forming around it. In the saturated environment provided by the clouds, the crystal grows. All the snowflakes are six sided, but no two snowflakes are exactly alike.

Make Your Own Snowflakes
I've added several new snowflakes to my collection this summer. Some were crocheted using the patterns found on the JPF Crochet Club's website. They were easier than I thought they would be.

- I enjoyed reading this. You reminded me that we used to make paper snowflakes to decorate the room when I was liitle.
