Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See

Are you interested in historical fiction? Would you like to get a fictional look into the past of Chinese culture? Do you yearn for a look into the interactions between women put in difficult positions? Or are you just looking for a good read? If any of these sound accurate, then Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is for you!

I probably never would have picked this book up on my own, but I wanted to join a book group, and Snow Flower was next on the list. I was worried I might be disappointed, because I've picked up a few books lately that I just haven't really absorbed me, and I bought this book from Amazon solely on my group's recommendation. Turns out there was no need to worry - Lisa See's language, style and characters sucked me in from the very first page.

I will give one caution for this book: if you get nauseous easily, take care reading some of the more graphic sections. Lisa holds no punches when it comes to describing some of the more gruesome aspects of her characters' lives.
