I well remember this. I was a kid and living in Ohio at the time. I don't think we had school for an entire month. When school resumed, I walked to school on snow that had been dumped onto the sidewalks and was taller than me. And, of course, our furnace decided to quit. We stayed in the kitchen and kept warm by lighting the gas burners on the stove and turning on the oven. It was a memory I will never forget.
