Meet Snowy & Max - Leaders Amongst Cats

Snowy and Max are our two beautiful cats, they bring so much love into our home. They are always up to something, usually fun, but definitely lots of naughty times too.

They have totally destroyed all our furniture with scratch marks and there is fur everywhere and I mean everywhere, ugh. But without them we would be lost and not have so many laughs.

Below they have told a few of their stories and they have let me relate a few too.
From visits to the vet to incidents that have really tested us all, but from these we have all come out stronger and happier.

Max, Max Where Are You

Max as a kitten sleeping soundlyI kept hearing Mum & Dad calling me and I couldn't move or speak to tell them where I was. They even went around the block calling for me, I was starting to feel really sad.

Earlier in the day I had been outside playing and I found the best thing ever, it was long and thin and was wriggling around like crazy, just asking to be pounced on, which of course I did. Biggest mistake of my life. I got it but it got me too. I felt OK for quite a while, I had it in my mouth and I was taking it home to show Mum & Dad & Snowy.

I had to drop it along the way because I started to feel really weird, it took me all my energy to get home. Luckily we had a handyman working on the bathroom at the time and the door was open so I just walked in and collapsed.

Just by sheer luck at 10.30pm that night Mum decided to look in unusual places, like behind cupboards, in cupboards and under beds and tables. She found me, I was lying in the furthermost corner of the dining room under the dining table (which had been pushed to the wall, because we were renovating), I was so sick, but still a bit embarrassed as I had had an accident.

Well Mum & Dad got me out of there and tried to give me a drink, but I couldn't move anything except my eyes. They phoned the vet and he said wait until morning and bring him in, but they said NO WAY he is really sick and we need to come in now.

Dad drove and Mum held me in an old shower curtain, because I kept wetting myself. When we got there he tested my blood to see if it clotted and it didn't so he said he has probably been bitten by a snake but not too bad. Mum & Dad were not happy about his attitude, they thought that he should have been a bit more concerned., but they didn't know what else to do. Anyway they left me there on a drip.

Mum phoned the next day and the vet said that I was no worse no better, so they kept me on the drip. Mum & Dad came to visit me.
Then all of a sudden I got worse, really bad, the vet asked Mum if he could give me anti venom and Mum said of course, just do what you have to do. So they gave me an anti venom injection and I had a bad reaction to that and it nearly killed me, they had to give me adrenalin to counteract the anti venom, oh boy this is bad.

I managed to hang on, they still had me on the drip. Mum & Dad came in again to see me and I dragged myself over to them, it was really hard because I was still mostly paralysed, I had just started to get some feeling back in my front legs, but I really wanted to be close to them and they needed to pat me, they looked really sad.

Well I was in hospital for a week, but then that wonderful day came when the vet said I could go home. I got really excited then, well as excited as I could being partially paralysed. I was kept inside for a long time, actually until the weather was cooler and there were no snakes around.

I still really like to chase things, but I am more careful, plus Mum & Dad keep a close eye on me to make sure that I stay out of trouble.

This is a picture of me sleeping peacefully when I was only a kitten. Cute huh?.

Mum,Mum Tiger Bit Me - Snowys Story

13 January 2010

Hi my name is Snowy and my brother Max, sister Gingee and I were born December 2005 in a small regional town in NSW. We woke up one morning and Mum was gone and we didn't know where we were. Luckily Gingee is very social and went out to explore and she found our new Mum & Dad working in the garden. She went and introduced herself and then made them follow her back into the garage and meet us, Max & I were really scared so we hid, but they found us.

They took us into their house and into their hearts. We were very lucky to find them and of course they are very lucky to have us.
Gingee moved to the city with Aunty Kelly and her Ragdoll cat Brutus, she is very happy there.

We moved to another town about 2 years ago, its nice but there are a lot of other cats here. One day the cat next door, Tiger (big, old mean ginger persian) chased me and bit me on the back, boy did that hurt, I was crying out to Mum and she rushed out to get me and chase Tiger away. They couldn't see any marks, so thought that I was OK, but about a day later I had a big lump on my back, the bite was now an abscess, yuck.

Mum & Dad took me to the vet and he gave me an operation and stitches because it ended up that I had 3 bites on my back and they were nasty. I had to sleep over at the vets and that was scary I can tell you, but that's another story. I had my back painted pink, kinda cute don't you think. I think pink is definitely my colour.

Anyway I am OK now and Tiger is no longer with us, so I can stroll around outside and feel fairly safe, but you never know there could always be another Tiger just around the corner..............

We Had Our Needles Today

11 January 2010

Yes we survived the dreaded visit to the vet.

Should have known that something was up when Mum put us in the carrier and then into the car, OMG where are we going. Oh Max will you listen to her she's singing. What a horrible noise, hurts my ears.

Oh oh I know this smell, it's the vet, why are we here we're OK, we don't need to see the vet........ OK Mum if you think getting us into this carrier was hard, try and get us out, NO WAY.

Oh poor Snowy the vet has grabbed her by the scruff and she is not happy, you should see the fur flying. Ooh yuck what is he doing to her, what is that and why is he putting it there? What was that that he just threw down her throat, hope it's a prawn. Hey Snow you're back are you OK sis???

Oow let me go no don't do that, please don't do that, oh boy the humiliation. Hey that's not a prawn, what is it? We love this carrier now, we are not getting out of here again, EVER.

Oh oh back in the car and boy is it hot, Mum said it was 40 degrees, phew. There she goes again, singing, will you please stop that, it sounds like someone is standing on my tail.

Oh yes home sweet home, get me out of this carrier.

The Saga Of Snowy & Max

What would we do without them..............

Why do we love cats as much as we do????

They ignore you, treat you like servants, only give you their time when they want something, what is it that makes them irresistible? I don't know, but I do know that they rule the roost at our place. One meow at the door and they go out or come in which ever side of the door they are on.

Our cats won't go to their food bowl unless you take them, you literally have to walk them down the hall, through the dining room and into the laundry and then they look at you with those big eyes and demand that you stay while they eat.

At night while watching TV, Snowy will come in and sit on your lap, very cute but if you want to move you get the dirtiest looks, then she will get up leave in a huff without even looking back.

Max loves to visit first thing in the morning while you are still in bed, he will do (what we call) a drive by, he will walk across the top of the pillows and head butt you (that's his way of giving you a kiss), then he will paw at the pillows and lay down or he gets between us and slowly pushes us each to the edge of the bed until he has enough room and goes to sleep.

Max loves to smootch, especially if you are outside, he will rub around your legs and then stretch up on your leg and ask to be picked up, so you pick him up and he gives you lots of kisses and climbs onto your shoulders and walks around dribbling as he goes. Max is definitely the smootchiest one but only on his terms of course.

Snowy is the talkative one, she will look at you and have a full on conversation. She loves to rub around your legs and leave white fur all over your clothes but she doesn't like to be picked up.

The photo of the 3 kittens is when they decided to adopt us. One morning we walked out into the backyard and this little ball of ginger fluff came out of the garage and meowed at us, we followed her into the garage and there were 2 other little balls of fluff. We don't know how they came to be in our garage or where the mother was, but they stayed, how could we resist them. Our daughter took the ginger one to be a friend for her other cat.

More to come later.................

admiralglass says:

Hi great lens, love the pics, cats could not live with out them. 5xxxxx

Sibelius says:

Cats are definitely superior. Less maintenance, less noise, easier to housebreak and they're very affectionate!

Mart903 says:

I love em both, however, I am somehow more inclined to cats; you really got to earn their love.

bowltech says:

Pussy Cats don't drool, that is not very becoming of one so grand.

Dogs

OhMe says:

We have both but I am partial to dogs. Shhhhh don't let our cats hear me say that

Ramkitten says:

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED my cats, both of which lived to be 18 years old. But now that it's just me and my dog, I have to say it'll be dogs for me from here on out. At least, that's my intention. But I can never say never about pets. Sometimes they just come into your life unexpectedly.

California_Dreamin says:

Okay, what do you think I'm going to say? Dogs totally rule, cats can't even keep up with their drool.
