The life of a drug addict or an alcoholic can be a long, hard, disastrous existence. It is a lifestyle that tears families apart and can - and usually does - shatter hopes and dreams. No matter what type of upbringing, educational background or code of ethics that may be instilled within one's existence, it stands hardly a chance of defeating the all-powerful nature of addiction. We hear countless stories of men and women whom once held prestigious positions, that lived a life which in all outward appearances seemed deep and meaningful; but that was long ago, before their lives were utterly taken over by drugs and alcohol. Some have found their way back, some have found new paths to follow, some are still within the grips of their addictions or serving time in jails & prisons, and some, so sadly to say have perished.

Quite often, it seems that there is one common denominator among many recovering addicts, and that is that they "never felt a part-of," that their lives never felt quite right as far back as they can remember. Of course many outward issues can have a vast impact on these types of feelings, which can manifest themselves in many ways inside the mind of a potential addict. But in the end, the horrors that come along with living the life of addiction are nearly endless, and they effect everyone involved; the spouse, the children, the parents, employers, colleagues, friends, relatives and so on...

This lens has been created by Sober Nexus. We are a group of people who have personally been through the struggles of addiction and relapse. We have starred this nightmare straight in the eyes and have emerged with a renewed sense of gratitude. We've been in treatment centers; we've worked in treatment centers, and now we're here as a cohesive group with a mission to change the world of addiction treatment.

The term "addiction" is broad and all-inclusive. It includes; substance abuse, chemical dependency, alcoholism, eating disorders, mental health issues (anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, etc), gambling addiction, sex addiction, etc. Not only that, but it includes a type of behavior that is often termed "alcoholic or addictive thinking" which is very common among those of us whom are true addicts. We could obviously write an entire dissertation on this topic, but we feel that you would be better served to hear the facts from those who have more of a clinical background. Our purpose is to provide you with the resources available among the many treatment facilities and sober living homes around the nation, as well as to shed some light and provide you with links to various websites that will offer much greater depth into the world of addiction.

The Ranch's program offers various experiential modalities toward identifying and treating underlying causes of the client's need to self-medicate.
