Soccer Passing Drills

Passing is an essential part of the game of soccer, and soccer passing drills need to be stressed and done thoroughly. Although there are many different types of passes, many youth soccer programs focus only on the push pass. In fact, there are many types of passes including the driving pass, the punch pass, and many more. There are high bending passes as well as bending passes that never leave the ground, and all of these passes should be mastered to be a complete player and have a successful winning team.

The Best Format for Soccer Passing Drills

If you are looking for soccer passing drills, you'll find a lot of diagrams and charts in books and on the Internet, but soccer is a visual game that is best learned and taught visually. That's why videos are far superior as a learning tool.

I have done a lot of research on the best soccer teaching programs for coaches, parents, and players who are old enough to learn from videos to teach themselves, and there is no program that comes close to SoccerU.com as far as quality, price point, thoroughness and effectiveness. SoccerU offers a DVD training program that works as well for beginner level kids programs as it does for advanced professional players. You can see a sample training video by clicking here and you will see for yourself how well-made this training program is.

Drills vs. Fundamentals

socceru Being a soccer nut myself, I have looked at many soccer training programs both on and off-line, and have found many of them hard to work with. Most of the soccer passing drills, soccer shooting drills, receiving drills etc. that I run across are simply written diagrams, which I have found are not easy to use. Video training is far and away superior to diagrams and written instructions.

Another thing I found to be very refreshing that make a lot of sense at SoccerU.com was the coach's take on drills. You should watch the free video from Coach V where he talks about the use of drills as opposed to learning fundamental skills first as a priority. Fundamentals are often skipped as coaches get their players right into doing drills and therefore the players never really master the basics and will struggle. But there are plenty of drills to be had at a SoccerU.com, but only after fundamentals are learned.
