If you are a regular Web surfer and have not made yourself familiar with social bookmarking for whatever reason, then perhaps a brief and social bookmarking education is all you need to spark your interest. For starters, it is a leap from the kind of bookmarking that you know: saving your favorite sites on your PC. It is time to stop thinking ancient and move on to the more recent techniques.Let us go on with this social bookmarking education by stating what it is. The truth is it is almost just like plain bookmarking, except that you can do even more. In social bookmarking, you also get to save and organize your bookmarks, but with a little twist - you get yo share them with your friends and other Web surfers without having to e-mail them.
To be able to do that, you have to create an account with at least one social bookmarking site. The popular sites include Digg, Del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, and Propeller. In order to create an account, what you basically need are: real e-mail address, user name, and password. When you have successfully completed the registration requirements, you can enjoy the services offered by your social bookmarking site. Be sure, though, to read the "how to use" tutorials provided by your site to make it easier for you to navigate the tools as well as to avoid from getting sanctioned.
You can then bookmark the sites that interest you or you find useful for future reference. By doing this, you not only helping yourself not to lose track of these sites; you also help your fellow social bookmarkers by providing them with new interesting and useful sites. The fun part of the whole thing is that you get to add friends or create a network of peers who are joined together by common interests. You even get to share your thoughts by commenting and rating other users' submissions. How could the old, agoraphobic, and plain bookmarking compare to that?
If you cannot call yourself a "techie" person, then drop all those worries. Being able to bookmark is largely dependent on plain common sense. Begin to work on becoming a social bookmarker now as the best social bookmarking education that you can get is by getting in your hands to a social bookmarking site itself, create an account, and see for yourself how much you can gain from becoming a part of the social bookmarking world.
