Growing your business with free social networking sites

Are you making use of all the opportunities offered to you by the growing number of free social networking sites to meet new people and to build relationships with them as part of a long-term strategy to grow your business?

Some people say that this takes too long and requires too much work, and that may be true in the early stages of implementation.

This is probably true if you want to advertise and make immediate sales.

However, I look at this in much the same way as building goodwill in a local community. The difference is that the community is world-wide but is defined not by geography, but by interest.

The social networking that you would do to build your business is probably very different than what I would do and the main reason is the focus of each of our businesses.

Can you imagine being a rock star without a fan club?

With free social networking, you can build a following no matter what type of business you own or manage.

Do not confuse social networking with advertising. That's the short-sighted view.

Think of it more as building a reputation that can grow over a lifetime.

The better your reputation, the more people you will attract into your sphere of influence, and that's how you can grow your business over time.

Let's be social!

I'm busy meeting new people and building relationships on a variety of social networking sites. As you may expect, however, I've done much more networking on some sites than on the others. I'm doing more as I am able to make the time.

I look forward to meeting you.

Great resource lens you have here. I use Facebook and Twitter mostly and I have a couple of hubs on hubpages but I can't really see it going anywhere? The Squidoo community is absolutely awesome. I think I have read & rated close to 500 hundred hubs and I got maybe a couple of comments and fans back? People build hubs more often than I change my underwear and it's annoying frankly because it's all quantity not quality. Maybe I am using it wrong? Any useful tips on Hubpages you can give me?

Just when I think I know something I meet someone like you. Wow. This is going into my squidoo library lens. Too much to absorb in a sitting. I have never heard of all of this.

Do you have a step by step book?
