Those who master the above get a lot of traffic. I am sure you have heard this before. But that does not tell you how to do it. Right?
One way is to write articles. To be effective you should be writing at least one article a day. I don't know about you, but I am not a writer. I have tried to outsource, and it does work. But, guess what, if you want good content in massive amounts, controlling your ghost writers is a full time job also.
That is when I started reading about Social Bookmarking. Getting thousands of backlinks from one article, just by promoting it on the Social Bookmarking sites is very appealing to me. I find it so much easier to write small blurbs about my topic and post those to the internet than to write full blown article after article. By submitting those blurbs to the Social Bookmarking sites I am creating backlinks to my web site also. With a lot less effort!
Millions of people use these Social Bookmarking sites. That is why they all have high page ranks. And that helps you as well. A backlink to your web site from a page with high page rank (PR) counts more (in Google's eyes) than a link from a page with PR 0 or 1.
7 Advantages Of Social Bookmarking

INDEXING SITES FASTER: when a site gets bookmarked it gets a link on a high PR site. As a result search engines will have no problem finding your site and indexing it. The process is usually as fast as a user can bookmark it.
DEEPER INDEXING: people bookmark web pages that are of interest to them. As a result pages on your site other than the home page will get bookmarked just as easily. This means that search engines will have an easy job deep indexing your site.
MEASURING QUALITY: The more users bookmark a page, the more quality and relevance that site demonstrates. Which site do you think the search engines value higher: one that has only bookmarks by the same user or a site that has many bookmarks across several bookmarking services by multiple users. Don't you think that that would make an easy choice?
TAGS: users who bookmark web pages, tag them with descriptions and keywords, creating an honest and objective definition of the site. A definition giving by the general user rather than the owner of the website.
NUMBER OF VOTES: in general, the more votes a page receives on sites like Digg, Propeller and the like, the more useful that information is. If a page receives those votes on multiple social media voting sites it will be given even more importance by the search engines and the quality will usually be higher than its peers.
CO-CITATION: because the users provide tags that are relevant for them to describe the page, search engines can classify these sites in all relevant areas.
CATEGORIZATION: through social bookmarking the user notifies the search engines how a site is of use to them. This can be different for different users and thus, the sites gets indexed easily in multiple categories.
