How to rank high using Social Media and Socialmarker

Social Media Trends for 2009
Google obviously loves these social networking sites and ranks them very high. Not only networking sites but also other web2.0 sites are highly ranked too. ( ranking here actually means the Google page rank)
Now for those who are new to the terms SEO and web 2.0 here's little explanation.
SEO - stands for Search Engine Optimization. Although few years back this meant very simple things like creating META tags and submitting URL's to the engines, over the years this has grown to a huge market.
Web 2.0- Is a term used to tag all the latest improvements or technologies with regard to the internet and web designing. Although this actually suggests a second version to the World Wide Web it does not refer to any update on the technical specification.

Few basics about SEO
1. Meta tags
2. Internal links
3. Pages and categories
4. Tags
5. Content
Rule no.1 - This is an ever changing niche. So it's important...., no it's VERY important to keep track of the latest changes and future trends.e.g. SEO meant just including a meta tag in the script with few keywords and submitting URL's to engines few years back. Look at the difference now and imagine what a couple of years mean to this market.
Google released a basic SEO guideline for webmasters in November 2008. Download your copy today.
So Google keeps updating their web indexing and crawling algorithm constantly, the reason being manipulation and misuse of search engines to create artificial traffic. There are many black hat tricks available freely on the internet some of which are even free to use. Although a handful of them do succeed in getting high volumes of search engine traffic it's just a matter of time before they're blacklisted and dropped in engines. Even these tricks are constantly updated as google keeps changing the algorithms. What might have worked one year back might not work today.
Now don't go ahead and assume that I'm a SEO guru. Neither do I sell any SEO service myself nor for anybody else. These are all experiences gained in my short journey with blogs, Google and SEO.

The use of social marker
Time saver!
This is not an automatic submission system and logins will be required to submit posts. Filling forms another frustrating, time consuming task. But there may be a solution for this. Ever tried the firefox add-on Sxipper? It's a free form filling add-on and I find myself relieved with this smart piece of software. I strongly suggest using firefox with the sxipper add-on. You may find the link to the add-on on the list above.
Now using the firefox, sxipper and social marker you can create log-ins and submit pages in no time. But be warned some of the sites consider excessive self promotion as spam. e.g. Stumble Upon might disable a profile for stumbling the same site over and over again. In other words none of these sites like being misused or manipulated. So making sure to contribute and add value to the community is important too.
This process can be repeated after each post (if it's a blog) for example. There is another trick up the sleeve. This is when the keepass software becomes an essential tool.

Social Networking sectrets
Here's the clue. Think about yourself as a small group of people networking. e.g. five friends working on the same website project. There is absolutely no harm in all five of them submitting each page of the website to all networking sites using the methods above, saving some time in the process too.
Now that's an idea. Each extra log-in repeating the process will obviously multiply the impact. Now you'll find the need for password manager. Roboform is a shareware which is a highly rated software which can be of use for this task. Keepass is a free open source password manager which is a handy tool. Link given in the voting plexo.

Backlinks a necessity for Google page rank
What are these back links?
In order to get higher page rank it is crucial at least a few of the links are from DOFOLLOW sites. Visit the dofollow lens by pixelrage for rare lists of dofollow sites. Thanks pixelrage.
If a web page has a high page rank it naturally implies that the page has quality backlinks pointing back to the page.
Remember the quality of the backlinks DOES matter. The quantity is important but the quality rules over it.
What do I mean by quality....
-->Linking site is a DoFollow.
-->Page rank of the webpage pointing back is high
-->The website pointing is relevant to the topic of the page linked.
-->Linking text is a targeted keyword or keyphrase.
Every link pointing to a page is counted as a vote when page rank is determined. But (trust me, this is a huge but) quantity of the links are determined by the number of domains linking back, whereas it used to be just the number of links.
e.g. 10 links from different pages of the same website will be counted as 1 vote.
Another important aspect of backlinking is the domain extension has a weight too.
e.g. links from .org and .edu sites are worth more.
It's feedback time
