If you are becoming obsessed with Squidoo, no one can blame you. I swear that they are brain washing us or something. The amount of people that come to me and say - 'Hey, I just can't stay off of Squidoo. I want that top 100 spot.'

People are going all out to win a place in the top 100. People are seeing the love that Google has for Squidoo and want to make money using Squidoo, they just don't know how.

Maybe you have managed to get a few cent on the lens itself. That wont let you quit your job though will it? We want to earn loads of money by using Squidoo - the easy way. So how do we start?

Simple, first find something that is HOT right now. It doesn't matter what it is. Perhaps there is some famous sports event in your country right now. Maybe you are a fashion slave and know what the latest must have clothing item is. No matter what it is - find it!

Once you have found it you need to think like someone who wants it. Maybe they don't know they want it yet, even better perhaps they don't know that they NEED it yet. This is the best one. Take the soccer (football) world cup for instance. People can cash in with this easily. You need to let the buyer know they NEED it before they even know it.

How? Through the world cup searches for the games went up by over 3000%. Imagine if you were advertising the games with an affiliate program that offers all satellite TV through your PC. Advertise it using the tags, name the tags and keywords as they games, which teams are playing what?

Granted this would work much better using PPC, it's just an example of what you can do to get people buying what they don't know they need. Grab a HOT product and then find a good affiliate program to go with it. Advertise it using your Squidoo lens and before you know it you are making money using Squidoo.

The first thing you need to consider before building your Squidoo lens is how you are going to drive traffic to it once its built. In other words, you'd want to have a solid plan in mind.

One of the most effective ways to generate traffic to a Squidoo lens is through search engine optimization. Getting a Squidoo lens to the top of a search term in Google is easier than most other cases. Why? Because Squidoo is well loved by search engines! There have been many Squidoo lens which have attained top Google rankings by following a few simple rules.

The first thing you'll want to consider is the name of your Squidoo lens. Include the keyword/s you are targeting for a number one spot (or at the very least a spot on the first page) in your Squidoo lens name. This way, your Squidoo URL will contain the keyword/s you are targeting for a high Google ranking. This immediately gives you a 'head start' in the search engine battle!

The next thing you'll want to act on is creating links back to your site. These links are also called backlinks. You'll want to create links which contain an anchor text (your keyword/s) so that the search engine spiders instantly recognize them. The equation is simple: the more backlinks you have, the higher your Squidoo lens will rank.

There are a few great ways to attain quick and easy backlinks. One is by posting on forums. Be sure to include your signature which contains your backlink (however be careful not to spam the forums or you'll be kicked out). Another way is to buy backlinks. This can be done at a forum like Digital Point, where they have a section specially for trading and buying backlinks. You can also create blogs at Blogger.com and Wordpress.com and post a quality backlink back to your site. Those are just some great ways to create fast backlinks.
