Here is a list of websites that are worth checking out if you are trying to get the word out about something: [I will be continually updating the list...along w/ pointers I discover...]

If you are trying to promote your MUSIC..artwork...creative work especially...I suggest the following.. (I am currently trying to build my pages up as well..just tapping in now..but seem very handy!)

-Own Official Website: I was told having your own website is a must...this way there is no way the person can click on things unrelated...you have captured them..

Facebook- make an artist page..get fans..
Myspace
Last.FM-shows similar artists.. gets better as you listen & contact more
Twitter- "What are you doing...?"
Last FM Love/Twitter MashUP- links the 2
iMeem-w/ little music players-can share
Digg- Can find interesting articles to post
YouTube- once you got some videos
iLike & GarageBand.com

Scribd.com: post article once a week=good method
Squidoo.com
Tumblr-Blog
LiveJournal-Blog: can post privately or publicly-i like this one a lot!
