Individuals on the autism spectrum often have difficulty determining the correct action in a given social situation. Social stories have been found to be extremely helpful for these individuals. Social stories are brief narratives from the perspective of the child that describe a situation, provide explanations about the feelings and thoughts of all individuals, and give directions regarding the appropriate response. These stories allow the autisic child to perform more appropriately in social situations.
