Jidoka is a four-step process from Lean Manufacturing, that engages when faults or "abnormalities" occur:

 - detect the abnormality;
 - stop;
 - fix or correct the immediate condition;
 - investigate the root cause and install a countermeasure.

Note that Jidoka is a technique from lean manufacturing, not from product development. This lens asks whether the concept of Jidoka can be appied to Software Development - and if so, how?
