Sojourn's Lensography - Going Overboard

My name is Erica Stone and I joined Squidoo on February 22, 2009. I've created 78 lenses to date (August 1, 2009) and made so many wonderful friends on Squidoo that it's become a second home for me.

It's taken me awhile to get around to doing a lensography, but it's time. Besides, it's my last assignment for Rocket Moms this session!

Next on the list - Continuing with WiWon for the 100 Club Challenge!

About Me

Lenses About Me and My Life

I work full time and am a mother of three, beautiful boys ages 15, 11, and 6. I Squidoo after work every night, driving my husband absolutely crazy. I enjoy the ability to be creative and write and to do them all on one, cool website.

I travel for work but prefer being at home. I live just outside of Phoenix, AZ, and love the heat, the sun, and the palm trees. Although I never expected to write about myself online, I did end up doing several "About Me" lenses.

HTML and How-To Lenses

Some of my favorites

My favorite lens is my HTML Backgrounds lens. While not my first lens on Squidoo, it was the first lens to attract any real attention and my favorite lens to create.

It gave me a taste for the possibilities of Squidoo. I continue to update it, especially if I receive an email question asking for HTML help. I'll often use the question to create a new module on the lens. I went on to write a few more how-to lenses specifically for Squidoo lensmasters. Mostly, these were notes to myself about things I'd learned from other lensmasters or along the way as I began to increase the number of lenses I had made.

Pillows Run Amok

Plenty of pillow stuff

I go on a pillow war path and create a number of pillow lenses. Maybe I took it too far but I enjoy pillows. Whether they're from a store or hand made, I just think they can be so creative and I have them all over my house. My first sewing project in high school was a pillow I made for my mother. Maybe that's why they're special to me.

Spina Bifida Awareness

My father is on the board for Spina Bifida Association of Western Pennsylvania and he's been educating me on the foundation and the constant challenge of bringing awareness to any organization. He cares deeply about what happens to the foundation and those they work so hard to help. I started a campaign to further the cause.

My Goldendoodle

Apollo

Even my dog gets in on the act. My Goldendoodle, Apollo, just turned one year old last month and is a giant horse! He's funny, though, and smart, loving, and sweet as can be.

Lightning McQueen

My favorite little car

The most fun series of lenses, however, has certainly been those having to do with the Disney Pixar Movie, Cars.

My son and I both love Lightning McQueen, although I think he secretly loves Tow Mater more. He's fascinated with the little Tow Mater extra videos and for a long time he wouldn't sleep well at night if he didn't have his little Tow Mater car in his hand.

We play Lightning McQueen games online which led to my first lens. The rest of the lenses just fell nicely into place.

Love to Write

Writing lenses

Lenses About Writing

I have loved to write since I was a little girl. I think my first story had to do with a duck who played tennis, but I don't remember why. I didn't have a thing for ducks and I've never really played much tennis but at five and six years old there's no accounting for logic.

Thanks to Squidoo, I've started writing much more and for fun, more than anything else. I started a blog, Desert Pond about getting back into writing, I write fiction for Drifter's blog, Extreme Writing under the section Stone's Throw when I can squeeze it in, and I write lenses. I even wrote a few lenses about writing.

Saving Electricity

Tip on Reducing Electricity Bill

As I learn something new, I like to share. I'm a pretty big numbers geek, too, so anything I can study that involves math calculations (not calculus...I'm not crazy!), intrigues me and will keep my attention for endless amounts of time. I did a number of lenses on how to compare electricity bills and reduce energy costs.

Visitor Comments

Stop and say hi!

While this isn't a complete collection, I hated to list any lenses that were singles - practice, experiments or spur of the moment. I'll include them someday but wanted to touch on the highlights for now.

I've thoroughly enjoyed being a member of Squidoo. My family, however, is considering having me enrolled in a twelve step program.
(Do you think I could do a lens on that?)

I'd like to see ALL of them. Your name keeps coming up among Squidoo masters and you're clearly seen as a Squidoo legend! I'm afraid that I learned the absolute minimum to get a lens published and have been too lazy to push on. I like the creative side of writing and pictures but hate all the 'real work' of linking and formatting. I will try to turn over a new leaf though and have a look at some of your work. Thanks.

Oh my gosh but your lensography is wonderful. The more great lensographies that I visit the more embarrassed I am of mine. I have got to find time for it soon I am seeing more and more clearly. Thank you so much for displaying an example of a truly great lensography.

What a quick learner you are and prolific! How do you find time? You must create lenses while you fly from one place to another. Interesting lensography.
