The Solar Taxi
For the first time in history, a solar car is making a trip around the world...OK, it's not about solar lights but I couldn't resist this one! After all, solar cars have lights and I believe they are... SOLAR LIGHTS!
In the course of his trip with a solar energy car, Louis Palmer from Switzerland arrived in Lebanon to promote clean energies. So far, Palmer has crossed the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Syria, before arriving to Lebanon. He will later continue on to Jordan. The journey will last 15 months with a goal to cover 50.000 kilometers. Palmer will visit 5 continents and 50 countries. He is expected to end his tour later this year.

For the above reasons, LEDs are replacing normal light bulbs in a lot of professional and commercial solar lights.
LEDs are used for example in solar traffic lights, solar street lights and airport lighting.
In this kind of applications ultra bright LEDs or super bright LEDs are utilized.

I cant resist adding some solar gadgets on this lens from time to time. I am considering starting a new lens dedicated to solar gadgets...So, your brain is overheating? Cool! Solar technology and the solar safari hat is here to help! This solar safari helmet has a small fan powered by 4 solar cells located on top. When there's no sun, the fan can be fed by 2 AA batteries.

Solar energy is progressing fast.In the near future you will be able to print sheets of solar-cells with cheap home ink jet printers. The printed sheets can then be placed on a roof, wall or any other area. I like the idea!

- Timely lens. The use of solar lighting makes a lot of sense. We have solar landscape lighting, two remote solar security lights, occasionally use the floating lights and have a solar battery charger. Yep, I think solar lighting makes good cents and highly recommend it. Rates 5 Stars.
