Solar Powered Outdoor Lighting: Durability and Performance Guide
Have you been considering solar powered landscape lighting for your landscaping needs, but haven't made the final decision to purchase them? Worried about the durability and performance of the solar lighting fixtures? Or maybe you just thought the whole "powered-by-the-sun" tagline to be a false promise? I had all of these concerns when I started looking at various solar garden lighting units to use for my landscaping. Fortunately, most of my questions we're answered after a quick online search, and I'm quite happy with my new solar lights.
Durability and Performance
My biggest concern with solar garden lights was the performance and durability. Traditional electric lights offer that known-quantity of turning on being bright whenever I flip the switch. And since they have been around for a very long time, most of the bugs have been worked out. But I really wanted to reduce my environmental footprint, skip the hard work of digging up my yard to bury electrical wires, and reduce my electric bill.
After doing my research, solar technology has improved to the point where it's a true alternative traditional electric lighting. The solar panel itself converts more sunlight to usable energy, the battery is more efficient, and the light bulb produces a stronger light. The best part all of this is enclosed within the lighting fixture so you don't need any wires, transformers, or your electricity from your house.
I've had my lights for about three years now, and they still work as great as when I first bought them. I use them primarily to light my walkways and front entrance, so I didn't need to have spot-light strength lights. Overall, I really don't think you can wrong with solar garden lights. And most importantly, my lighting bill has decreased since installing them.
