LED's have a lot longer operational life than standard lamps, this means replacement is a lot less frequent. A good thing because you do not want to be climbing up to change a lamp in your solar security lighting too often.
Another big advantage of LED lighting over incandescent lighting is the reduction in power consumption. With LED's around 80% of the energy is light energy and only 20% heat energy. Compare this to incandescent lighting where only around 20% of the energy is light energy and around 80% heat energy.

- I have never had a lot of success with solar powered outdoor lighting, but I guess that's because they were really cheap units. These might work nicely to light the back when I come home in the winter. Good information.
