- I wish solar panels would be more affordable, I would love to have some installed on my roof and create my own electricity, but I think I would die before recouping the cost as it is right now, plus I don't live in an ideal location for solar energy. A neighbor nearby who has them says they don't produce enough to not have to rely on public electricity.

- I spent a half hour reading this lens and I am sorry that I am not an angel. I'd bless it for sure.
Man has long wanted to harness the power of the sea for his use. Such has become a reality in the narrow Kurushima Strait in Japan's Inland Sea. A waterwheel that generates power from tidal movements has already been installed, reports The Daily Yomiuri. The wheel and its 14-meter-high (46 ft) steel frame was lowered into the water and is expected to generate 1.6Â kilowatts of power by tidal currents with a speed of 7.4Â meters (24 ft) a second. The tide is a certainty every day so this is a great idea also.
I would like to use solar energy. Where we live we have a lot of sun daily. It is just a matter of cost. I'd like to see this subsidized by the government instead of them poring money into the car industry and other industries that are doing no good for our environment.

- Excellent lens my friend, great information indeed. I for one can't see why all new houses are not built by law with good insulation and solar panels on the roof. The designs ought to angle the roof to allow the maximum generating capability. Not only could many of these homes be self sufficient, they could also feed energy back to the grid. Solar energy is not that efficient right now we know, but new designs are improving that all the time. I am sure it won't be long before we can see a significant improvement. It worries me when governments keep building more nuclear plants. Yet another lens that is more than worthy of a blessing.

- Thanks Tony, actually the technology is here to make solar working in conjunction with wind the only power sources needed. Our governments need a change of heart and mind in order to make this a reality. (at least here in the US, Germany has moved ahead and are getting a large percentage of power from renewables) Thank you for yet another blessing, I simply want to help perpetuate the species and to make sure we survive. I know with people such as yourself that have the enlightened views you indicate here, the change will happen. Wishing you and Deb good health and happiness. See you around the galaxy...

- Great lens....... Fabulous article on the state of the environment and the need for change. ...Sun Power holds the world record for being able to produce a solar cell with 24 percent efficiency, though the typical efficiency of cells rolling off its production lines could be a few percentage points lower. Sun Power is using the more expensive monocrystalline silicon while most of the solar cells today use multicry stalline silicon and generally have efficiencies between 15-18 percent........... Renewable energy can be a great source of power. We can get enough power by solar energy and wind energy.... This subject is vital to our future, and I appreciate your contribution! Keep up the good work! I rated it 5 stars......Well done.... Thanks for this kind of lens.......:)

- Electrical vitality may be generated through the use of the renewable sources resembling wind, sunlight, geothermal, hydropower and biomass. These power sources are renewable, that means that they can be replenished naturally. In comparison to fossil fuels which might be commonly utilized for generating the vitality, these renewable sources are eco-friendly. Another main advantage of renewable source is that they generate clear electricity with out the emission of hazardous greenhouse gases. With the elevating want of electrical energy and issues concerning the energy crisis, renewable vitality sources are the future hope to satisfy the demand of worldwide population. It's estimated that about 50 percent of the vitality generated from the renewable source is used to supply electrical energy.

- I live in a very rural area and have built a diy wind turbine in my backyard. It's not overly big, but it generates enough power to cut my electric bills in half. Definitely worth it and I have already seen a return on the investment. If you can do it and have the room, go for it.

- Renewable energy can be a great source of power. We can get enough power by solar energy and wind energy. Thanks for this kind of lens. I rated it 5 stars.

- Lots of interesting stuff here!
But 2 notes to add:
1) CO2 has long since maxed out its contribution to warming; you could multiply it by 10X in the atmosphere and barely add 1% to its effects;
2) my fave energy project, focusfusion.org , is now ramping up its research and development, and within 5 years or so will be in a position to offer generator designs that will slash construction and production costs for energy by 95%. Those economics will sweep all conventional and "new, green" alternatives from the board. Don't spend too much on your solar panels and windmills!
