We can also call them solar tiles

Solar Shingles are regular roof shingles, where solar power cells are incorporated into its structure.
Solar Cells are devices to collect solar radiation - light and transform that energy directly into electricity.
The purpose of roof shingles is to cover - to protect the roof, which function is to protect the building.
Beside covering/protecting the building, solar shingles are producing electricity, as well.
Solar shingles give another functionality to the regular roof, which could be also very cost effective on a long term basis.
Most people today, still have no knowledge of how to make their roof more functional. The knowledge of basic use of solar power devices, such as solar roof shingles and their placement.

Elegance of Solar Shingles

One could see the true elegance of solar shingles in its 'working' - profit making and carbon offsetting characteristic. We could say, that such roof shingles have dual character.
They protect the building and at the same time they produce green, renewable electricity by harnessing endless and free solar power.
To be even more precise we need to say, that the character of solar tiles is triple. They protect the building, they produce green electricity and they earn money for its owner.

Long term effect of solar shingles

Most buildings are built as a long term projects, which means, that they are built and maintained on a long term basis.
Simple example: we are building a family home, a school or a public library to last for more than just a few years.

Roofs and solar shingles are long term projects, as well. They should last at least 25 years, if not longer.
We need to install them once and we are going to harvest solar power on a long term basis every single day.
Keep in mind long term character of any solar power devices. They are not like many other electronic fashionable gadgets. They are designed and created to last for many decades and to serve its owner as good and as silent as possible.

Solar Roof Shingles add Price Premium to our Property

Application of solar power system in your home/house, immediately adds the Price Premium to the house, if you are going to sell it later on the real estate market.
Every property on the market is much more sought after, if it incorporates renewable energy source and other energy saving devices. Solar roof shingles are the best possible example of using renewable solar power and the best possible way of how to increase the value of your property for about 10%, at once.

Is Solar Power Expensive?

No.
Solar power is not expensive. Let me explain my point in real numbers. To wisely implement energy efficiency and use of free and endless solar power to your house costs about 4% of the overall build cost of the house. However, it instantly boosts the value of your house for about 10%. That means about 6% gain at the very start of your solar power project.
Yet, there is also a long term gain, which starts by the first day of use of your solar photovoltaic system. Your 'Eco sustainable' solar power system is going to lower your monthly energy bill for many days and years to come. Just imagine, 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, 40 years...of every day's $contribution$ to your bank statement. I think, we should call it something like a 'Free Solar Bank'.

Solar Roof Shingles and its Efficiency rate

Efficiency Rate and the Price of solar power roof shingles are the most important factors in planning process of any application of solar power installations.
Scientists are constantly increasing efficiency rate of solar roofing shingles. This rate has already reached about 20% and we could expect further rise of this number, very soon.
These solar devices are specially optimized to use as much light as possible and produce electricity, even on days with no direct sun.
In the case of heavier snowing, you simply remove the snow, once, when it stops.
