An added bonus is that the solder doesn't stick to the mat, so it's easy to clean up as well.
In between soldering, we roll up the silicon mat and stick it in the drawer with our other soldering tools, like flux, hemostats, and the soldering iron.

- good to find a mat that the solder does not stick to when soldering. Those small pieces used when doing surface mount technology can be hard enough, without worrying about solder aswell.
