Soldiers' Angels Sending Blankets of Hope, Gratitude and Belief
If you can sew, knit, crochet consider getting involved and making one of these special gifts for those who serve, or those who have served.
Solders' Angels even offer an option of a no sew kit, for those who don't feel very creative or donating directly to Soldiers' Angels.
There are three different types of blankets:
- Blanket of Hope - for those who have been wounded.
Blanket of Belief - for those who are currently serving.
Blanket of Gratitude - for our veterans who have already served.

Blankets of Hope - For Those Hospitalized
The Blankets of Hope team creates unique, handmade blankets to send hope, support and gratitude to America's wounded and veterans.Used on hospital beds, wheelchairs, and transport litters on medevac flights, Blankets of Hope bring the message that each service member is loved and not forgotten.
These handmade blankets are included in the Soldiers' Angels First Response Backpacks and Vet Packs sent to Combat Support Hospitals in the war zones, major medical facilities in Germany and around the world, and selected military hospitals and veterans centers here at home.
Wounded soldiers are quickly evacuated from the battlefield, leaving behind their clothing, personal equipment, and their brothers in arms. During this time of pain and upheaval, the Blanket of Hope provides warmth and comfort for the wounded soldier.
Most importantly, it shows the soldier that someone cares about him and is thinking and praying for him at that very moment. This is very powerful for a wounded hero... the knowledge that someone cares.
Understandably, Soldiers' Angels are very proud of this project and what it has done for those brave wounded heroes.

Why are there different kinds of blankets?
Crocheted, knit and loomed blankets are sent to our veterans, while quilts and other handmade blankets are sent to our deployed troops.
The open texture of crocheted, knit or loomed blankets catches on and interferes with the medical equipment being used to treat the wounded.
It may be just a blanket...
but it means so much
to a wounded soldier!
Blankets of Belief - For Those Serving
This winter, an estimated 180,000 U.S. military personnel will be serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and other locations around the world, in combat environments or in support of combat operations. Some will be on their 3rd or 4th deployments--spending yet another Holiday away from the loving arms of family and friends.Soldiers' Angels want them to know that they are remembered, that people are thinking of them during the winter Holiday Season and are grateful for their service.
Since it is impossible to wrap arms around them in person to show how much they are loved and appreciated.
Blankets of Belief's goal is to wrap all 180,000 of our deployed service members in blankets representative of our support and faith in them, Blankets of Belief. The Blankets will be a physical reminder that they are not alone during the Holidays.
When deployed service members receive a Blanket of Belief, they will know that somebody back home remembered them, that somebody labored over a handmade blanket with thoughts of them and hopes or prayers for their strength and comfort.

Blankets of Belief
The blankets always bring a smile to the ICU staff members' faces, as well as the faces of the wounded soldiers' comrades, who often come to visit their buddies before they
air-evac out of theater.

Blanket of Gratitude - For Those Who Have Served
This winter, thousands of veterans will spend their Holidays in a VA hospital or facility, away from the warmth of home, family and friends.Soldiers' Angels want them to know that they are remembered, that people are thinking of them during the winter Holiday Season and are grateful for their past service.
Since it is impossible to visit all of them in person, our goal is to wrap 25,000 of these Veterans in lap robes, representative of our support and appreciation, called "Blankets of Gratitude." The lap robes will be a physical reminder that they are not alone during the Holidays.
When a veteran receives a Blanket of Gratitude, he or she will know that somebody remembered them, that somebody labored over a handmade robe with thoughts of them and hopes or prayers for their health and comfort.
