A Choose Your Own Stack Guide to Stacking Rings

The stacking rings in the Solo Artworks "Le Petit" line are made in silver and 14K gold in many colors. There are also several styles to choose from. How many, and what styles are right for you?

Styles

A breakdown of styles of stacking rings.

The traditional stacking ring style is a thin band, and many are intended to be worn at the same time. Alternately, stacking rings are used to "frame" a focal ring, by wearing two with your focal ring in-between.

You may also want to wear a stack in different widths and designs. For instance, the Ring Junkie Starter Set, which features many different styles that fit together nicely.

A single stacking ring in a favorite metal such as 14K White Gold could also make a striking appearance.

Quantity

How to choose the right amount of rings for your stack.

The same stack is not perfect for everybody. Here are a few things to think about in choosing your perfect stack of rings:

  • Do you have long or short fingers?

  • Are they skinny or chubby? (does the width change a lot in-between your knuckles)

  • Do you want to wear them with other rings?

  • Is the stack itself going to be your focal jewelry?

If you have long fingers you will have a lot more room for many rings. If they are short, too many rings may look disproportionate. Also, you need to think about the entire stack and its total width when choosing your size, as chubby fingers may need a half or whole-size larger than your normal ring. Try measuring using a strip of paper in the same width as your stack, and fit it around the thickest part of your finger. (A handy sizing link can be found here.)

If you intend to wear stacking rings surrounding a focal ring, like a diamond solitaire, or another ring in your collection, chances are you will only need two stacking rings, or perhaps four for a very bold look. If you're going to wear the stack by itself, they look beautiful in threes and fives, and in different combinations of Gold colors and Silver.

Don't Be Afraid to Customize Your Stack!

Readymade sets are great but stacking rings are meant to be more!

One thing will always be true about stacking rings:

Once you start collecting, you can't stop! And why should you? You'll find that there are infinite combinations you can wear and mixing it up can really help you show of your personal flair. Try them with your old and new rings, and don't be afraid to mix metals! Check out 14K Yellow Gold with Sterling Silver - the combination will go with everything :)
