Overlap: Music Video Design Web Culture
Ranked #22,114 in Arts & Design, #533,866 overall
I'm interested in the intersection of several different forms of media, sound, and visual expression. This comes from having an education in architecture, design, and art history; a professional background in web, graphic, and interactive media; and a great passion in electronic music and cultural collaboratives (Arts In Motion, Properly Chilled), and performing groups ranging from classical to punk and glitch/microsound.
It's with great excitement that I'd like to share my latest collaborative, Overlap. This new group of talented musicians, designers, video artists, hackers, thinkers, promoters, and music labels aims to catalyze and promote multimedia creation through on-line media aggregation, distribution and live events.
Overlap.org (launch in early 2006) is a multimedia feed agregator + culture node dedicated to our (your) music, art and ideas. It is a space that thrives on the juxtaposition of a various artists, and the content they create. Imagine a cool multimedia boutique/gallery run by friends mixed with a record label without records mixed with event promotion.
Together we are creating a unique community while distributing our work. We envision media distribution that is bottom-up, free of middlemen, and aesthetically diverse. We are beginning with several artists, their blog feeds and free music -- podcasts, vlogs, streams, and mp3 downloads. The community is open to anyone who can provide a creative feed (blog, podcast, vlog, etc.).

Iceland - Hiking in Snaefellsness, listening to Ampop and Worm Is Green in the bright midnight hour; small clouds of frosty breath form as we scamper over enormous rock cliffs... far down below, waves crash and seagulls sound off distant calls.
Copenhagen - Taking the train home after a night out, listening to Tear Ceremony as we whizz along the coastline and the grey dawn breaks into a pinkish golden hue over the water. Sketching, drawing, and building models in the studio and out on field trips, swirling trax from Boards of Canada and Nentagaine informing the lines...
Paris - Ruby Brune's funky electroclash served up with a twist; minimal techno at Rex and bumping into French rap video shoot at the Palais de Tokio w/ LA homegurl Guzel. BoC's Geogaddi playing in my head at the birthplace of Gothic architecture (chapel at St. Denis), as I look up to feel sunshine streaming through medieval vitraux.
