The first thing you need to know Panic Attacks are not a mental illness !Panic attacks can be one of scariest and most uncomfortable things that a person can experience. Although a person may have shown slight symptoms for quite some time, in most cases a panic attack can seem to come out of nowhere. Those suffering an attack for the first time will often believe they are going to choke or that they are having a heart attack, and will die as a result.
Panic attacks would be far less devastating if there were a way to avoid the situations which trigger them. But the great majority of panic attacks happen spontaneously, and someone who experiences one panic attack in a certain place may never experience another one there, if he or she can summon the courage to revisit it!

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that acts through a negative feedback system to block the transmission of a signal from one cell to another.
Neurons and Neurotransmitters Working Together
When a brain cell receives sensory information, it fires an electrical impulse that travels down the axon to the axon terminal where chemical messengers (neurotransmitters) are stored. This triggers the release of these chemical messengers into the synaptic cleft, which is a small space between the sending neuron and the receiving neuron.

About 2.4 million American adults between the ages of 18 and 54 will have a panic attack .Stress can cause panic attacks. It has been recorded that people who lead very stressful lives are more prone to panic attacks. It is a way in which their system is telling them to slow or it will shut down. Women are twice as likely as men to develop agoraphobia panic attack. Panic Attack typically strikes in young adulthood. Approximately half of all people who have panic develop the condition before the age 24.
