My Poetry

I've been writing poetry on and off since I was thirteen years old. I remember the first poem I wrote. I was thirteen years old, walking down the road with my oldest sister. She walked ahead of me and I didn't feel like catching up. I looked at her way up the road and a poem came to me. This is what it was.

I walk alone.
I stand alone.
I don't want any one
If no body wants me.

Looking at it now I realize how sad it was for somebody so young to feel that way. But it was the start to some, in my opinion, pretty darn good poems.
I have written in the neighborhood of 100 poems which I have in a collection copyrighted under the title of "Songs of The Wind"
All my poems are based one way or another on my lives events. Some which I don't mind telling you have really sucked.
I see my poems as my children. For the most part they have been brought out of turmoil and pain. Sort of like giving birth. You have the labor pains then you give birth.
I spent 18 years in the "Christian church" which has also inspired some of my poetry.
I'd like to share a few of my poems and a little bit about the story behind them in this lens. I do hope you will enjoy them.

All the images the poems are on are my own they are either photo's I've taken or paintings I've done based on the poems.
Hope you enjoy them all.

If you find some of the poems on the lens difficult to read please click on them. It will take you directly to my zazzle page where this photos are featured. Sorry but I am a bit leery of having copyrighted material appear on here where it is easy to copy.
I do apologize for the inconvenience.
If you would like to purchase a copy of any of these without going through zazzle please contact me I do have a paypal account I can accept payment through. I sell them in an 8x10 that look really nice framed on the wall.

Hope for Tomorrow

I wrote this poem during my church years. It was written after a really terrible night when I had lost all hope. I remember this poem came to me as I lay in my bed crying my eyes out. I just said you know what, whatever. I didn't feel like getting up and writing it down and thought, you know what if it's from God I'll remember it in the morning. How can you tell I wasn't in a writing mood.
To my surprise it was still around in the morning. So I wrote down.

Horse Wait

I wrote this poem just because I love horses. The poem is about a rider wanting to ride a wold horse and trying to convince the horse that he can be rode and still remain wild.

You Were My Friend

Sadly this poem was written after my son was brutally beaten up, at of all places,at a church youth function. He didn't receive any support what so ever from the church we were attending at the time. Instead a bunch of kids from a church in town on the other side of the river took him under their wing and supported him I wrote this poem for them.

Maker of my Soul

I spent my life feeling rather invisible then I discovered God could see me and knew everything about me. I wrote this poem with that thought.

I'm Your Child

This picture as well as the poem has a story. The picture is of my dad carrying my daughter who was 4 years old at the time. I can remember crawling up mountains, or maybe it was just a big hill, because my legs were so sore I couldn't walk and my dad just kept going. We were out in the bush hunting and I didn't want to get lost. Anyhow we were visiting my dad. He was working on a ranch at the time. We had to go hunt him down to tell him we were there. My kids wanted to go back to the house with their grandpa. His truck was on the other side of the field so they had to walk to it. I don't think my daughter had ever walked in long grass before and it tickled her legs. So my dad picked her up and carried her. I snapped the picture because he would never have done that for his kids. I guess grandchildren are a different story. Either that or he had really softened or maybe a little bit of both.

Your Promises

I wanted to write a poem about being able to find God's promises in really bad times as well as the good times.
The picture is of some silk flowers my kids bought me for my birthday one year. They wanted to know what I wanted for my birthday. I told them something pretty. They bought me the flowers and yes I still have them.

Early Morning Struggle

I actually wrote this poem after sitting outside at two in the morning thinking about how crumbing things were at the time.

We all agree, just beautiful work flowing from your inner being to meet us all here. I remember watching my Dad with my children and it brought back memories of how he had been the same with us kids.
