Songs From Christmas Specials That Aren't Christmas Songs

The Songs In Christmas Specials Aren't Always About Christmas

Christmas specials are part of the many modern traditions for the holiday. One of the ironies about the music featured in Christmas specials is that a number of these songs have little, if anything, to do with Christmas. In fact, the songs I'm featuring have nothing to do with winter. They are great songs that deserved to be remembered as more than being a song in a Christmas program.

Here are a few of my favorite songs from Christmas specials that aren't Christmas songs.

There's Always Tomorrow

"There's Always Tomorrow" was one of the many classic songs from the 1964 Rankin/Bass Christmas special, "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer". The song was performed by Janet Orenstein.

Even A Miracle Needs A Hand

This is from the 1974 Rankin/Bass Christmas cartoon, "'Twas The Night Before Christmas". Joel Grey provides the main vocals.

Believe - Josh Groban

Josh Groban's song "Believe" was featured in the film "The Polar Express" which is now a staple in ABC Family's 25 Days Of Christmas lineup.

All Alone In The World

SOB! This tearjerker is from the 1962 classic Christmas cartoon "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol". Young Scrooge is voiced by Marie Matthews, and Mr. Magoo, as Scrooge, is voiced by Jim Backus.

Ain't No Hole in the Washtub

This ditty is from that 1977 Muppets Christmas special far too many forgot about, "Emmet Otter's Jug-band Christmas". The song is performed by Jerry Nelson and Marilyn Sokol.

It's not Christmas without "Rudolph," and the songs are a big reason why I love that show so much.

Interesting and dof course you are right. MAny christmas specials these days are just an excuse to take up more TV time with popular shows. They have no link to the season whatsoever,
