Cool Songs That Get Stuck In Your Head - From The 70's (Well, at least in mine)
Here's my list of some of the songs from the 70's that I LIKE stuck in my head.
Annoying Songs That Get Stuck In Your Head
and you can't get them out!
Is there a song or jingle that gets stuck in your head EVERY time you hear it? Usually, it's a really annoying song like this one:I love you....
You love me
We're a happy family...
I'm willing to bet that most of you (just admit it) have had the Barney song stuck in your head at least once in your life. To make matters worse, it's quite possibly the most annoying song in the entire world. Ok, it is the most annoying song in the entire world. So why do we insist on blatantly paying homage to this exasperating piece of fluff? The answer is simple...we can't help it.
But that's not what this is all about. These are cool theme songs and jingles, mainly from my childhood, that I actually like stuck in my head.
Free To Be You And Me...
Starring Marlo Thomas and Friends

Good Times Theme Song
Keepin your head above water...

The Evans family brought a lot of laughs into my house (and still continue to). The theme song to "Good Times" is so good you can't help but dance while you sing.
Good Times.
Any time you meet a payment.
Good Times.
Any time you need a friend.
Good Times.
Any time you're out from under.
Not getting hastled, not getting hustled.
Keepin' your head above water,
Making a wave when you can.
Temporary lay offs.
Good Times.
Easy credit rip offs.
Good Times.
Scratchin' and surviving.
Good Times.
Hangin in a chow line
Good Times.
Ain't we lucky we got 'em
Good Times.

Help your friends and family get songs stuck in their heads
Do you ever get a song stuck in your head and feel the need to "pass it on" to your friends and family? For example, this jingle from an early 80's Strawberry Shortcake commercial is almost constantly stuck in my head:Strawberry Shortcake, gee you're lookin' swell...
Cute little doll with a strawberry smell
Now I actually love this jingle...it's a catchy little tune (even though I only remember the 2 lines) and I have fun changing my voice range etc to make it sound even cooler, if that's possible. My husband, on the other hand, can't stand it, it brings him close to being physically ill. Therefore, whenever it pops into my head, I make sure to sing it aloud for all to hear (especially him).
The Jeffersons Theme Song
By Ja'net Dubois and Oren Waters
The theme song to The Jeffersons is another fine example of a fantastic song that will creep into your head at any given moment. It has everything! Beans, Deluxe Apartments and a great beat. It's cool to hum or whistle as well as sing at the top of your lungs.Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.
Fish don't fry in the kitchen;
Beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lotta tryin',
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin' our turn at bat.
As long as we live, it's you and me baby,
There ain't nothin wrong with that.
Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.
It's Slinky!!! And It Gets Stuck In Your Head!
It's fun it's a wonderful toy!
What walks down stairs, alone or in pairs, and makes a slinkity sound?A spring, a spring, a marvelous thing!
Everyone knows it's Slinky.
It's Slinky, it's Slinky, it's fun, it's a wonderful toy.
It's fun for a girl or a boy.
What can top the slinky song? It slinks into your head and stays there all day long! Wow, now I'm making up my own jingles! Is this fun or what? The Slinky debuted during the 1945 Christmas season at Gimbel's Department Store and has been going strong ever since!
Chicken Soup With Rice
by Carole King
Based on the books of Maurice Sendak, "Really Rosie" was release in 1975 as a television special. With Carole King helping Sendak out with the music, it was a sure fire hit.Another of the famous elementary school staples...it featured an outstanding song "Chicken Soup With Rice". Which quickly won over my classmates and I.
Honorable mention goes to "Alligators All Around". Any Really Rosie is great to have stuck in your head.
Chico And The Man Theme Song
by Jose' Feliciano
Another excellent show with superb theme song, written and performed by Jose Feliciano. I remember sitting on the couch with my mom singing this song at the top of my lungs. Today I mainly use it to torment my children.Chico, don't be discouraged,
The Man he ain't so hard to understand.
Chico, if you try now,
I know that you can lend a helping hand.
Because there's good in everyone
And a new day has begun
You can see the morning sun if you try.
And I know, things will be better
Oh yes they will for Chico and the Man
Yes they will for Chico and the Man.

- AHHHHHH I was actually doing fine reading all that (I prepared myself!) but then ShyGremlin caught me off guard here on the guestbook. I gotta turn on the radio now so I stop singing "...believe it or not, it's just meeeeeeeeeeee"

- What a GREAT idea for a lens. Many of these have gotten stuck in my head over the years. I remember one time at work when a bunch of us just started singing the Beverly Hillbillies theme song. One song I sing a lot and sometimes try to dance to is - and my husband hates it - Beyonce's "Single Ladies." He hates it because then he finds himself unconsciously singing it too. LOL!
