Dear Squidoo:
SquidTunes is a concept I've been knocking about for several months.
In a nutshell: the original concept that predates SquidTunes had a working title of Story Behind the Song and was envisioned to be a combination of Urban Dictionary (where a user could submit a song meaning, and visitors could comment and rank it) and Epinions (similar concept, but more product and review oriented).
User picks a song and suggests a meaning for the lyrics. Guests may agree with page author or disagree, and leave comments. Visitors would also be able to quickly and easily preview other songs from the artist, buy concert tickets or memorabilia, view photos and Wiki on the artist/group, etc.
I happen to think that SquidTunes could be the next wildly successful co-brand for Squidoo. I'm fairly young in Squid years, but I have the motivation to learn (and earn) and would like to be involved in SquidTunes as Community Leader or something to that effect.
Here's a sample

The first thing for the Squidoo lens author to do, is choose a song, and highlight a few interesting lines in the lyrics.
The example song I am going to use for illustration of this co-branding concept is Nickelback's Side of a Bullet.
"And when I heard
you let him die
and made the world
all wonder why
I sat at home
and on my own
I cried alone
and scratched your name
on the side of a bullet"

Here is a snippet of an album review on Amazon:
"The disc's most impressive and simultaneously surreal moment, however, exists on Side of a Bullet, a passionate revenge tale written about the killer of Pantera guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott, which features one of the late Abbott's guitar solos as donated by Pantera bandmate and brother, drummer Vinnie Paul. --Denise Sheppard"

The story behind the song
module: Text/Write
This is where we get into the meat of the lens:
- What IS the Story Behind the Song?
- What do the lyrics mean?
- If based on a true event, tell about it.
- If written for a certain person, explain.
What is the story behind "Side of a Bullet"?
This song is written about the senseless murder in 2004 of Darrell Abbott, the former Pantera and Damageplan lead guitarist known to most fans as 'Dimebag'.
There are thousands of Web pages that support this opinion.

"Side of a Bullet" is Nickelback's seventh and final single from the album All The Right Reasons, as announced on ultimate-guitar.com. [http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/nickelbacks_single_dimebag_tribute.html] ultimate-guitar.com The song was released only to U.S rock stations, like the song "Animals" was, years before.
The song is a tribute song to Dimebag Darrell who was shot on stage while performing in Columbus, Ohio. The lyrics for "Side of a Bullet" focus on the murder of Darrell and the aftermath therof. It takes place in an alternate universe where the murderer is still alive and Kroeger is planning his revenge.
The guitar solo is by Dimebag from the Far Beyond Driven era. It was sent to Nickelback by Dimebag's girlfriend and his brother Vinnie Paul. At first Nickelback wanted to have Vinnie Paul playing on the track but he refused by stating that Nickelback's drummer Daniel Adair performed as well as he could. Chad Kroeger, Nickelback's singer/guitarist, said that when he performs this song he actually feels that Dimebag still has a presence on the stage.
The song had received radio play on certain rock stations across the U.S. for quite some time before its official release. It charted on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Chart, peaking at #7, giving Nickelback their fourth top ten hit on the chart from All the Right Reasons.
It is the third Nickelback single since Silver Side Up not to chart of the Hot 100, after Never Again and Because of You.

First of all, the song flat out rocks. But more than that, it isn't just meaningless metal ... there is a lot of raw emotion conveyed through it. I think it is very interesting how they used Darrell Abbott's own recordings for the guitar solo ... it was incorporated into the song very well.
I think it is a great song and a really moving tribute to a friend and mentor from a big fan who also happens to be a successful rock musician. No matter what you thought of Dimebag or Pantera, no one deserves to be murdered in cold blood.
