The Sony dav fx900w is yet another notch in Sony's belt of great stereo systems and electronics products. The Sony dav fx900w has been getting 4 and 5 star reviews from many of it's buyers and for good reason. I love the new look this system provides - breaking out of the traditional sony silver and adding a little dark mystery with the black. Not only does this system look smashing and not only would it be a great addition to the look of almost any living room or den but it also offers great quality. I'm not going to say that the system is without it's flaws however so let's take a run through on this Sony's pros and cons and then you can make a more informed decision.

The Sony dav fx900w not only gives you the great style and sound but you are also offered a few different options with the set up. Are you up for the new wireless feature? You can now have rear wireless speakers with your stereo system. This takes out a lot of hassle when you are attempting to set up your speakers. One less thing to worry about is always a good thing with me. Another option of the set up is where you want your speakers. You can easily mount them on your wall with the provided wall mounts or you can set them up on the speaker stands - also provided.

Sony dav fx900w - The dreaded cons

Yes,even though there are many glowing reports on the sony dav fx900w there are a few things that I would chalk up to the con's list. One of these would be the load time. Even though you have a stylish slot loading disc changer this can cut into your quick factor when you are trying to load up or eject your media.


  • Almost 20 seconds to start playing a cd

  • 30 seconds to change discs

  • 8 seconds to eject one



While this may not be a problem for many,there are some people that are a little impatient. Another thing that I would put in the cons list on this system is the inability to adjust the bass and tremble. You also can not control the subwoofer volume directly from the remote.

Sony dav fx900w - Summing It Up

Just like with anything else - it all comes down to personal preference. I really can't tell you if this is the right system for you or if it's not. Why? Because it all comes down to how you feel about the features,the pros and the cons. We may have different pros or cons in our lists. While there are a few cons with this system I still rate it a 4 out of 5 stars since it has a great sturdy design,sleek look and a great sound quality. The pros seem to shadow the cons nicely.
