The Sony HDR-CX300 Handycam
The Sony HDR-CX300 Handycam
is Sony's replacement for their HDR-CX150. The HDR-CX300 has several improvements over the HDR-CX150 and in most ways is a better camcorder. It also has a couple changes I don't care for but it is still a good camcorder.
HDR-CX300 Overview

Video Overview of the HDR-CX300
HDR-CX300 Golf Shot
One of the most interesting features of the HDR-CX300 is the Golf Shot. The Golf Shot records a series of images in fast sequence and combines them into one. This is very useful for analyzing a golf swing, among other things. Whether or not you play golf, this is a very cool effect and with a little imagination could be put to lots of creative uses. (Please note the sample video was shot with an HDR-CX550 but the CX300 works exactly the same).
Sony HDR-CX300 Batteries
An extra battery for your HDR-CX300 is a big convenience...
The HDR-CX300 comes with Sony's NPFV50 Rechargeable Battery
that gives about 2 hours recording time. I like to have a second battery so I can shoot with one while the other is charging. If you want more shooting time per charge, the Sony NPFV70 Rechargeable Battery
offers twice the capacity of the NPFV50, so it should also give twice the recording time.
The HDR-CX300 in Low Light
The HDR-CX300 uses Sony's "Exmore R" CMOS sensor with a minimum illumination of 3 lux, making it a good low light camcorder. I haven't had a chance to shoot a low light sample with the HDR-CX300, but this YouTube video demonstrates the low light capability of the HDR-CX300.
