Are you ready to claim the soul swords?

Soulcalibur 4 will feature an all-new Critical Finisher system. The Soul Gauge will fill up when attacking and decrease when guarding. When the meter is empty, the opponent can do a strike that breaks off a part from the character's armor, altering their appearance and making them weaker for the remainder of the match.

If the character manages to empty out the opponent's Soul Gauge again, they will get a short chance to perform a powerful Critical Finisher, which will kill the opponent instantly. Each character has their own personal Critical Finisher.(read more)

With the new Soul Clibur game coming out soon, there is a nice treat for you here. With the new critical finishes added into the game, they are on par with some brutal Mortal Kombat style fatalities.

Yes, we know what you're thinking. You are thinking "What the hell are Darth Vader and Yoda doing in my Soul Calibur sequel?" But how are these two any less logical (or illogical) than Link or Spawn? Still the best modern fighting series I have played

I have always been a fan of Namco-Bandai. They know how to release games that appeal to me. From Xenosaga, Baten Katos, Eternal Sonata, to Tekken, and finally all the way to the Soul Calibur series. They have a way of making even the characters in a fighting game very endearing.

Soul Calibur vs. Tekken

I personally prefer the SC games. Tekken in my mind is far too wooden. None of the characters have a smooth flow when in combat (athough the bowling is awesome).

Which series do you prefer and why?

I love the soul caliber games, but so much work has enn put ito the tekken fighting system, any of the moves that arent obviously superhuman are probably almost all done in a mokap suit, many of these styles are incredibly real, and ive studied some of them so yes they are done well (as well as you can put a fistfight for your life onto a 360 controller). So while soul caliber is fun the actual fighting in tekken feels more like ...well, actual fighting

    SC4 is a decent sequel, but I feel it's lacking a few things. The only new characters to the official cast were Hilde and Algol, which is dissapointing (the guest characters don't count in my book because they won't be permanent additions). Plus, Algol is a boss...so who knows if he's going to be a back next time? That's my only gripe though, everything else was great.

    Soul Calibur is the superior game by far. Tekken relies on memorizing juggles and abusing the same move over and over again via anti wake-up(Yes that means you, Lili noobs) Aerial control and Ukemi in SC means that you cant rely on juggles and floor hits, so it becomes alot more tactical and demanding on the player. I play tekken every now and again if I want to fight a mindless, easy fight, but Soul Calibur for me is by far the better game.

    tekken 6 cool coz it has long jugles and more tactical moves and SC doesnt have long jugles and SC has special attacks that makes the game a bit corny, and yeah Tekken is more creative that SC in terms of costume!!! TEKKEN 6 IS THE BEST!!
