Carrie Underwood & American Idol fans are both disappointed and elated about the Soul Surfer Soundtrack List. There's excitement about the former American Idolette making the leap to the big screen as an actress, but bummed there's no nada when it comes to any surfer tunes included on the movie's OST. Instead American Idol's Chris Sligh was engaged to cover Katy Perry's Firework.
Two official movie soundtracks are being released for the movie, Soul Surfer, the true life inspirational biopic of Bethany Hamilton about the young surfer and her comeback after losing an arm in a devastating shark attack.
Composer Marco Beltrami best known for scoring the Scream Movie series created 19 original songs including the main titles composition as well as songs like "Bethany Gives Thanks", "Back in the Water", "Paddle Battle" that hint at the uplifting story line. The Soul Surfer Soundtrack Score by Marco Beltrami is available on iTunes.
10 songs were selected by Soul Surfer music supervisor, Julia Michels including music by Michael Franti & Spearhead, Brian Setzer, Francesca Battistelli, Two Door Cinema Club, Britt Nicole, James "Bla" Pahinui, Mat Kearney, Athlete, Britt Nicole & Chris Sligh.
