Art, Animals and Life from a Soulful Pet Portrait Artist

Ranked #21,567 in Arts & Design, #521,447 overall

Welcome to the lens of Soulful Studios!  I'm Lori and pictured with me is my horse Dandy.  I am a pet portrait artist, a total animal lover and supporter of all beings 4-legged.

I believe everyone in this world has been given a gift or talent.  Some may say that my talent is drawing and painting.  Personally, I think it goes deeper than that.  I believe I have been given the unique gift of being able to see the personality and soul of living creatures and translate that to art.  It gives me the wonderful opportunity to help others honor their fuzzy friends or to say good-bye to them.  I love what I do and I believe in the contribution I make to others.

This lens will familiarize you with art and how I use it to contribute to the world around me.  You will also have the opportunity to read stories about my animal companions and what is happening in the studio.  there is never a dull moment here.

Please don't forget to leave a comment or rate this lens!  I would love to hear from you.

Gracie's Log Stardate 2006

The trials of a misunderstood "puppy".

Aug. 25,2006
Ok...so my dear Gracie has a bit of a socialization issue. She loves people but everything else is prey to her. As a result we had a horrible incident with another dog that almost resulted in its death. Luckily it did not. However, after 2 previous trainers I was ready to give up. Finally I have found the right trainer. The only problem is that they are 1 hour away and we are required to attend group lessons a few times a week. I do not have children but I sure feel like I do now! Gracie has become an even bigger part of my life than what I counted on. It is all worth it as I can see the most amazing progress in just 4 lessons. Want to know more? Well, I think I will start a blog about this. I will begin that next week so come back and look for the link.

Meet Gracie, the mascot of Soulful Studios. She is a 4 1/2 year old Boxer/Pit Bull mix. I adopted her over a year ago from an elderly couple that could no longer care for her. She was never trained or socialized and has some "issues" that have now become my issues.

It has been said that animals reflect what we need most in our lives. I've come to find out the truth in this statement and have learned that I really need to learn patience and compassion. Gracie has tested every bit of that in me, to be honest. However, it is important to point out that she has taught me more about myself than any other experiece. I believe this is often how animals serve us.

Want to know more about this story? Stay tuned. Once a week I will update you on her saga and what we are learning. It just may help you with your "puppy" or you could just have a laugh at our expense. Either way come back to read more about Miss Gracie.

Art, Animals and Life on Amazon

These two books listed first have changed my life! If you are a creative type of any sort you should buy "The Artist's Way". If you want to not only live life but create the life you want and learn self mastery Tony Robbins' book will give you the tools. I thought he was just a cheesy "info-mercial" guy but he is not...this book will rock your world!

The two biographies are about my favorite artists. NC Wyeth is my hero and his biography is worth reading twice! Of love Georgia as well but not for her flower series of works but her landscapes and trees. She was quite an interesting and woman of "crust". Maybe someday there will be a book about me. Do they do that about pet portrait artists?

I love your cow series!! I think you are right you definitely have a gift for seeing into the soul of an animal. As an animal lover myself I can sense your deep connection to them. As the mom of a rescued border collie I can tell you Gracie will come around with the right training don't lose heart!
