SOUTH AFRICA

The reason why I have decided to write a lens about South Africa is because for the months of June and July, the whole world will be watching as nations fight for the coveted FIFA World Cup in South Africa. I have visited the country on numerous occasions and I like the people and the country, so if you get a chance to visit, World Cup or no World Cup, do not hesitate. South Africans went through a great deal of pain because of apartheid; a discrimination that saw people suffering in any unimaginable manner possible. When I was growing up I would never have imagined that South Africa would be what it is today: a middle income country, one of the best places to live in Africa. With its wealth, many people dream of visiting this great country. If you happen to go for the World Cup, there are many places to visit after the games. You can visit the Kruger National Park, go whale watching or diving, visit the townships or just stroll along the beach of Port Elizabeth and Durban. Visit the Robben Island where Mandela was jailed for almost 3 decades. However as much as I would like to write the History of this great country, nothing would give much pleasure than to talk about the coming World Cup in South Africa

One of the most interesting places in Gauteng, the small province located in South Africa is the Soweto. Soweto derived its name from the abbreviation of South Western Township. Soweto might not be as popular as Johannesburg being the third largest city in Africa but Soweto has a long history as Johannesburg has and they have their own entity separate from its larger and wealthier neighborhood cities and places.
