How The South Beach Diet Works
The basic premise of the South Beach diet is that the consumption of "bad" carbs will lead a resistance to insulin. This resistance will result in your body's inability to process sugar and fat. In addition, consuming high levels of saturated and trans fat (or "bad" fat) can lead to cardiovascular disease. The diet, explained in the South Beach Diet Book, seeks to minimize the amount of "bad" carbs and fats that you consume.
The diet is composed of 3 phases. Each of the 3 phases is critical to maximizing the benefit from the plan.
