What Is South Beach Diet?
South Beach diet is a diet invented in Miami by a regional cardiologist called Arthur Agatston. South Beach diet put a high emphasis on two things; good carbohydrates and good fats. Agatston initial intention was to help his cardiac patients through this diet. However this diet made it into public through a book published by Rodale Press.
Agatston implies that excess consumption of bad carbohydrates will create an insulin resistance syndrome. This syndrome impairs the insulin ability to properly process fat or sugar. Bad carbohydrates are commonly found in high glycemic index foods. While bad fats such as trans fat and saturated fat (commonly found in fast food) will trigger an increasing probability of cardiovascular disease.
So south beach diet will require its followers to minimize the consumption of bad fats and bad carbs, while encouraging the consumption of good fats and good carbs.
South Beach dieters should not worry about food since there are a lot of South Beach diet meal replacement available in the market. One of the trusted sources to find the meal replacements which comply to the South Beach diet guide is South Beach Diet Online.
