A male Pheasant is one of the prettiest birds because of their colors.
Pheasant are also one of the dumbest birds I have ever seen.
The males weigh about 2.6 lb (or 1.2 kg) and females about 2 lbs. ( or 0.9 kg).

The Common Pheasant or Ring-necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus), is a game bird. In Europe it is "pheasant", and Ring-necked Pheasant in North America.The Common Pheasant is one of the world's most hunted birds, and is also common on game farms where it is commercially bred. Ring-necked Pheasants are commonly bred for game farm stock, and can be semi-domesticated. It is the state bird of South Dakota, and one of three US state birds that is not a species native to the United States.

Pasque Flower is called the Easter Flower, originating with the French. They are easy starters, fast growing to 8 inches tall and wide in the spring. I love seeing them in the wild when I hike, and are beautiful flowers for garden paths and borders. They need part sun and shade, and a hardy perennial in zones 5-9.

- When I was a child I remember my dad nicking a pheasant with our car. He got out and picked up the now very much "lights out" bird and much to the scolding of my mom, had her cook it up for our dinner. We had cream pheasant for supper and it was delicious and we were not even in South Dakota ;)

- We have a lot of pheasants around our area. When I was young, mum used to produce a pheasant dinner and state,"The wealthy have nothing over us when it comes to eating, Ahhh pheasant under glass."
Now, I am content to watch them and shoot them with my camera. This lens is angel blessed.
