Provincetown has natural sand dunes that are ever-shifting, historic lighthouses, beautiful sandy beaches, and is one of the top gay-lesbian destinations in the USA. See what I mean? The South Shore of Massachusetts lies between Boston and Cape Cod. It ends with Plymouth, starts with Quincy. In the most literal sense of the term, these are towns directly on the water. These communities have beautiful, scenic lighthouses, parks, great New England style restaurants, and a much less crowded atmosphere than Cape Cod. The beaches still have sand dunes, the seafood is still fresh, and the waves are just as active as the Cape, but there's less people... and that can be a good thing!
