Space Theme Bedroom Ideas for Boys

Your first step, when decorating your son's room, to make it have the space theme, would be fixing up the walls and ceiling. If you already have a good color, such as blue, or even dark red, you don't need to re-paint. If you have a normal color, like green, you should re-paint the walls, to a more space themed color. If you don't want to re-paint, you could also use space wallpaper.

Then, once you have re-painted, there are still many more things left to do. You can do things such as sketch a space ship on the wall, then paint it with white, red, and spaceship colors.

You could also simply buy some space wall decals online, from eBay or Amazon, and cover the wall in those. These decals are fairy inexpensive, bu the best thing about them is the fact that they are easy to put on the wall, and easier to take off. This way, if you son's "space phase" dies out, you can easily change the walls.

Lastly, you ceiling needs to have the space themed bedroom feel. An easy way to decorate the ceiling would be placing glow in the dark ceiling stars all over the ceiling. This is unique, plus the stars don't ever have to be removed, but obviously, are easy to remove.

Space themed switch plates are inexpensive, therefore, a great way to decorate, especially if you are on a budget. You can buy a plethora of different types of space themed switch plates on eBay. My personal favorites are the rocket ship switch plates, but planet switch plates also work very well for a space theme bedroom.

Actually putting the space themed switch plates in your son's bedroom is very easy to. All that you do is use a drill, to take out the screws for the old switch plate, add the new switch plate, and put the screws in. If you need more help, ask a question at the bottom of this page.

Whether or not you decide to purchase space themed bed, space themed bedding is a very nessecary item for a space themed bedroo. The bed is one of the first things people look at, therefore, it is important that it is decorated to fit the space theme. I suggest purchasing bedding that isn't too showy, so that your bedroom theme is overkill.

If you decide not to use space themed bedding, there are a few other things that you could do. I would suggest using either red or blue comforters. They are the general color of your space theme, but not overly annoying, with small designs. Also, these comforters can be used again, once you want to change the bedroom theme again.

Space themed curtains are cool for the space theme bedroom. If you have already purchased a comforter, or rugs, and want a matching curtain, these are the best. They are inexpensive, and fit medium sized windows.

If you have a small bedroom, be sure to open the curtains, and allow light in to the room. This way, the darkness doesn't make the room appear smaller than it really is.

If you son has his own bathroom, it should be decorated to. Honestly, I wouldn't have thought that there would be so many decorations for a space themed bathroom, until doing a bit of research. There are shower curtains, rugs, towels, and many more things to match your space themed bedroom theme.

I suggest getting regular blue towels, instead of space themed towels, because you don't want to waste money, when you are designing your son's bedroom again. Instead, you can use the same towels as you used for the space themed bathroom.
