Preparing to Learn Spanish is Easy!

Are you travelling to a Spanish speaking country and worried about not speaking a word of the local language? Or maybe you're just seeking to improve yourself, challenge yourself, show off to your friends, learn about a different culture or get ahead in your studies? This lens will arm you with the information you need para hablar espanol!

What you should learn before you go....

to ensure you are confident and able to enjoy your holiday

Learning a new language is one of the most rewarding endeavors, regardless of whether you are learning for travel, work or personal development. I traveled to South America recently - and OH! How I wish I had learned more Spanish before I left, it would have made my first few days - even weeks - a whole lot more manageable - instead I waited and bumbled my way through a number of embarrassing situations before finally going to Spanish school. Needless to say I can now advise there are a few key things you could learn well just to help even your arrival at the airport!

Its true, that the best way to truly learn a language is to immerse yourself in it - go to a country that speaks that language, live there, work there, study the language there and of course make new friends there. Bear in mind though, you are not likely to walk straight off the plane into a language school - and even before you have had a couple of weeks lessons you may struggle to communicate to locals. A few selected lessons and phrases before you go will make things a lot more comfortable!

Beginner Spanish Lessons Available

NSW Central Coast, Australia

I am available for weekend and evening one-to-one Spanish tuition on the NSW Central Coast - I will have you understanding and speaking basic conversation in just a few lessons. We use all the materials from the Bolivian Spanish School La Lengua Jodanga plus a mix of unique conversation outlines to help you learn in a fun and casual environment.

What will you learn in the first lessons?
For absolute beginners we start off basic. Your first 90 minute lesson we will begin by constructing a conversation about yourself, what you look like, where you work etc. If you progress quickly we will move on to the alphabet and pronunciation. Following lessons will then move into sentence construction and grammar.

What style of teaching is it?
I was a bad student and never paid attention to anything written on the board so group lessons were never for me!! We will operate one on one, with the style and lesson content adapted to your needs when you´re sick of writing we will just talk etc

What if I have learned Spanish previously?
I can email you a test prior to starting and will assess your level or judge your knowledge gaps. I can adapt the lesson for any need you have eg for example if you want to learn 1 new tense or increase your vocabulary in a particular area.

Further Details
Location: Lessons would be conducted in your home or mine or for increasing vocabulary we may conduct the lesson in an environmentally stimulating place like a café, or even at the beach.

My Qualifications

My teaching qualifications come from completing a TEFL certificate and a lot of time spent in South America teaching English. Prior to this in Australia I have tutored a number of students in various HSC subjects.

When I moved to Santa Cruz after learning Spanish for a year, I set up the cities leading Spanish school for travelers La Lengua Jodanga http://www.jodanga.com/lalengua.php , including hiring the best professors, and the development of unique lessons and content for Beginners to Intermediate students.

While Spanish is a second language for me, learning it and setting up the school means I have experienced the pitfalls of learning this language over and over and have developed solid strategies to get you NOT just repeating words like a parrot - but UNDERSTANDING what you are saying and what responses you receive.

You will be thinking and acting local in no time!
