Have you heard of Spanx? If not, listen up! Spanx is one of the fastest growing brands of shapewear in the world. In fact, it is safe to say that Spanx reignited the interest in shapewear, which had nearly died off until a few years ago.
Started less than 10 years ago, Spanx is now the hit of celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, Queen Latifah, Madonna and Oprah Winfrey. The reason is that Spanx is instant liposuction. Spanx is the fastest way to slim down the thighs and shape up the butt. Not quite magic, but the next best thing.
Spanx was started in 1998 by Sara Blakely, when she cut the feet off of her pantyhose. She patented the idea and began marketing it to retail distributors such as Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bloomingdales. Just two years later Oprah selected Spanx as one of her favorite things and the brand took off. So, what is magic about pantyhose with feet cut off? You might not think very much, but that was only the beginning.
Sara took the idea and developed it further. Soon Spanx was developing reinforced lines such as Power Panties and Super Spanx, lines that shaped the bottom, or focused on the thighs, or covered everything from the toes to just below "the twin peaks", etc. Virtually evething that needed shaping is now shaped by Spanx.
Celebrities began to discover Spanx and admit that they rely on Spanx to make them look perfect. Even celebrities with nearly perfect, bodies-to-die-for figures use Spanx to perfect the lines and curves of their figure. Spanx is not a replacement for a girdle. Spanx is used to create the perfect look. If all sizes of celebrities from Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow to Oprah and Queen Latifah can benefit from them, just about any woman can. Sarah says her missions is to "make the world a better place, one butt at a time".
