The Sparrow; A Symbol of Hope and Renewal
The Sparrow, returning from it's winter home, is the bringer of spring, a symbol of mother goddess, birth, and the resurrection of life. It is a symbol of eternal hope and represents the love of God for even the "least" among us.
The Sparrow was once thought to be a messenger of Aphrodite and in Troy, battle was forecast when nine sparrows, representing nine years of war, were eaten by a snake.
In the art of Feng Shui, birds in general, bring good luck when placed in the south facing side of your room. However the keeping of caged birds is bad Feng Shui, as this represents confinement and the stunting of growth.

Religious Symbolism of The Sparrow
"...even the lowly sparrow was invited to make her home in the Lord's temple" (Psalm 84:3).
As a Christian Symbol, the Sparrow represents the concern of God for the least among all people, who are, nevertheless, under the protection of God the Father; for even the sparrow came to earth only through the will of God.The bible proclaims the luck of the sparrow and the generosity of God by writing that "... even the lowly sparrow was invited to make her home in the Lord's temple" (Psalm 84:3). It is also a symbol of a pious holy family, who lives a humble, lowly life in obedience to the will of God.
A lone Sparrow upon a roof, represents Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, when He is emotionally abandoned by His sleeping disciples (Psalm 102:7).
Twelve Sparrows can represent the twelve Apostles. Some Gospels, relate the story of the child Jesus, forming twelve sparrows out of the clay of a riverbank and giving them life.

Sparrows in Dreams
"I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn." ~Henry David Thoreau
To dream of flying birds are a sign of prosperity, a feeling of freedom, or a burden being lifted.- Dreaming of sparrows, indicates that you will be surrounded with love and comfort, and this will cause you to listen intently to tales of woe, and your generosity of spirit will gain you popularity.
- To see sparrows upset or wounded, foretells of great sadness ahead.

- All birds are magical. During the last snows, I have been on extra seed runs to various sites and flocks.During these times you get all kinds of birds coming together to feed; the other day I had pigeons, blackbirds. a robin, a jay and a parakeet all enjoying breakfast together.

- I love birds, would like to fly like them. My favorite one is known as ghughuti in my dialect. Did a google search - it is known as Mountain Dove in English. It 3-4 times the size of a Sparrow and is very elegant.
