I want to build the most comprehensive listing available online of special children just waiting for their family to find them. Let's bring them home!
Multi agency Photolistings
- RainbowKids Waiting Children
- This photolisting is wonderful and easy to use. Rainbow Kids has added even more features, so that you can easily search for specific special needs. Agencies can also add video clips of their special little ones! A must see.
- Precious in His Site
- If you click on "search by multiple criteria", you can choose to search only for children with physical (or developmental) disabilities.
- Until All Have Homes
- Until All Have Homes spreads awareness of the children who still wait for their family to find them.
- Chances by Choice: International Adoption, Education and Supportive Services For Children with HIV/AIDS
- Finding homes for internationally born children With HIV/AIDS.
- ICAN Waiting Children
- Waiting children from many countries with missing limbs or digits- and ICAN provides support for parenting child amputees.
- CHASK Children Waiting for families
- You may put your homestudy on file with Christian Homes and Special Kids for birthmother (often having special needs children) to choose from. CHASK also often rehomes children going through a disruption on their waiting children page.
- Little People of America Adoption Resources
- You now have to log in to see the waiting children with dwarfism, but LPA does have a brief textlisting of children they are advocating for.
- Reese's Rainbow Down's Syndrome Waiting Children
- Reese's Rainbow advocates for orphans with Down Syndrome. They collect grant money for specific children as well, in hopes of making the adoption expenses less of a burden on their family.
- Reece's Rainbow Other Angels
- Reece's Rainbow also lists children without DS, but with other significant needs. You can also donate to a waiting child's grant fund.

Granting organizations
- Brittany's Hope
- Brittany's Hope gives grants to specific special needs children. Be sure to see their waiting children!
- The Shepherd's Crook Ministries - Waiting Children
- The Shepherd's Crook supports Christian families who wish to adopt special needs children. Sometimes they are able to provide grants for the children that they advocate for.
What are special needs?
Everyone has problems. Some are visible, some are not. For an orphan who is designated "special needs", there is a problem that has made it hard for him/her to find a forever family willing to bring this child home. Sometimes it is just that most adoptive parents are looking for cuddly babies, and he's "too old". Sometimes there something very minor, such as a birthmark, or a repaired medical problem. Sometimes children have had a difficult past and need a family that is able to help them through their pain. Or maybe they have a significant medical problem that requires surgery or physical therapy.
It is wrong that a child in these situations must wait so long to find their family. Each one of these children is as amazing a blessing as a child without a label. Won't you reach out to one of these special children?

Textlisting vs. photolisting
I put links to both photolistings and textlistings on this page. While a picture will give more of an emotional impact, it is the text that helps you decide whether this child will fit in your family. Look for information on the child's medical needs, personality, and attachment.
May your child find you soon!

- Love this lens! I have 2 adopted children, my eldest daughter has severe special needs. We knew this when we adopted her and wouldn't change it for the world. I am a newbie to squidoo, but have been working on my own lens, Adoptive Parent Advice that touches on adopting special needs children.
Keep up the good work!!
