Ok, ready? First of all, you have to take care of your body. Fear is felt in both the body and in the brain.It's a product of your nervous system. When you take care of your body through exercise and a healthy diet you actually tune up your nervous system to handle excess stress. You didn't expect that, did you? It's so true.
I want to you to do these things. Start an exercise program today, it doesn't have to be monumental but do something. You'll be amazed at how much this calms your body and your brain, you see exercise helps your parasympathetic nervous system function properly and when it's function you feel calm.
Change you diet in these specific ways. Cut out coffee or cut way back. Cut out alcohol or cut way back. Emphasize fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. When you take these steps you're priming your brain and your nervous system to be calm. You're building neurotransmitters like serotonin and alkalizing your body to keep it serene.
Start slowly and work you way up. I also suggest supplementing with vitamin C, vitamin B complex, and magnesium. All these things will calm you emmensely.
Weird that things would be effective for speech anxiety, but when you look at the fact that your brain and nervous system are significantly altered it begins to make sense.
The last thing I want you to do is go and find a good panic attack cognitive technique that you can use. The Linden Method and Panic Away are good ones. I personally have found Panic Away and The One Move Technique to be easy and extremely effective. I use it, you should too. It works.
What this does is train your brain to move through any jitters into calmness by moving activity from one area of the brain to another. I know it may sound complicated but it's really not once you learn it. It's like having a built in safety net for you brain.
If you can do all these things for yourself you'll find that speech anxiety is a thing of the past. And not only that any other fears that you have in your life will also be so much more manageable.
