Speed Racer Movie Opening May 8, 2008!!!

Speed Racer will reach new heights (and entertain a new generation of audiences) when it is released on May 8, 2008. The film is directed by the Wachowski Brothers (Larry and Andy Wachowski) who became household names after their creation of the mega-popular Matrix trilogy.

The trailer for the new Speed Racer film has been making it's rounds across the internet, and it looks nothing short of phenomenal. The casting and scenery looks spot-on with many of the actors looking like they were lifted directly from the cartoon series.

The movie stars Emile Hirsch as Speed Racer. Other actors featured are Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon, John Goodman, Scott Porter, and Matthew Fox as the mysterious Racer X!!!

Speed Racer is a 2008 American live action film adaptation of the 1960s Japanese anime series of the same name. The film is written and directed by The Wachowski Brothers. The film had been in development since 1992, changing writers and directors until producer Joel Silver and the Wachowski brothers collaborated to begin production on Speed Racer as a family film.

Reasons to love Speed Racer

The Speed Racer movie will be one of the biggest family movies of Summer 2008.

The film will be the breakout role for Emile Hirsch who has previously received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Christopher McCandless in the 2007 film "Into the Wild".

Wild special effects green screen "sets" that will make the movie appear as it was lifted straight from the 1960's Japanese cartoon.
