Food Tips That Speed Up Metabolism
Speeding up your metabolism means your body will burn calories faster. So when you have a high metabolism, you burn more calories than normal, even when you're at rest. A slow metabolism can cause you to gain weight, because with a slow metabolism you burn less than you eat.
The first way for you to speed up metabolism is to simply eat breakfast. Now, many people don't like to eat breakfast, but it gives your body the boost it needs to start up your metabolism in the morning. If you skip breakfast, you're not doing your weight loss efforts any favors. And it doesn't have to be a huge amount of food...a simple 250 calorie snack is all it takes to fire up your metabolism in the morning.
The next way to speed up metabolism is through adding spice to your meals. The US Agricultural Research Service claims that cinnamon is one of the spices that increases metabolism by up to twenty times.
Add foods that are high in vitamin C, while you're planning your meals. If you add 500 mg of vitamin C to your day, you burn up to 39% more fat while exercising. Don't overdo it, though! Depending upon your body, at around 2,000 mg of vitamin C you just might experience bad effects like gas, bloating, and diarrhea.
Drinks influence metabolism, so watch what you drink. Drink ice cold drinks...it will make your body work harder because it has to warm your stomach back to its normal temperature.
This last idea is very important to speed up metabolism. Prepare small meals and eat these smaller sized meals every two and half to three hours. The act of eating will boost your metabolism, so as strange as it may sound, frequent eating can help you lose weight.

- Thanks for you great ideas on fast metabolism. Lots of good information. I drink green tea and eat sour dough bread for metabolism when ever I can, but especially at breakfast.
