Radar Detector Reviews and Radar Detector Comparison
The best policy is to always drive safely, and within the speed limit. That's a given.
But it's not always easy to keep an eye on the speedo while also watching out for what is going on in front of you on the road, is it?
Many road users use radar detectors to let them know when there is a radar detector coming up, so they can make doubly sure they are keeping within the speed limit and not get a nasty fine because they took their mind off their speed for a few moments!
If you're looking for sources for radar detectors, you've come to the right place.
You'll find cobra radar detectors, which is considered by many experts to manufacture the best radar detector on the market, as well as escort radar detectors, the valentine radar detector, whistler radar detectors, the passport radar detector (actually the model name for the escort radar detector), and bel radar detectors (more properly known as beltronics radar detectors).
What about a cordless radar detector?
Sure, although most experts consider that corded detectors are consderably superior to the cordless radar detector, which, because of their battery saving functions, are actually switched on and off constantly and automatically. What does this mean for you? Well, simply that it could easily be in the "off" mode at that crucial second when the radar device is pointed at you, giving you insufficient time to react to the presence of the radar device.
Radar detector comparisons appear to indicate that the best overall radar detectors are
(a) the Cobra XRS R9G Radar Detectors - which is the elite, top of the line Cobra radar detector; and
(b) the Escort Passport 9500i Radar Detectors - the absolute top of the line best radar detector.

Or for a less expensive, but still very effective radar detector, the Cobra XRS 9730 Radar Detector is probably the most popular of the budget best radar detector models.

How to Beat a Speeding Ticket
- it's best to avoid being flashed by traffic light cameras, but if you already have a ticket, find out how to fight a speeding ticket!
Speeding tickets are becoming the bane of people's lives.
Not so long ago, people could sail through intersections without a thought about traffic light cameras, and could inadvertently exceed the speed limit slightly without ever having to be looking over their shoulders and wondering - have I been zapped? Are there more speed cameras locations today that I don't know about? Am I going to receive a dreaded ticket in the mail?
It's insane. Actually, it's almost obscene when you consider the vast amounts of revenue that is being collected at the motorists' expense, often due to merer inadvertence.
Fair enough, people should always do their best to drive within the speed limits, and not go through red lights. Those rules are there for a reason - our safety, the safety of other motorists, and the safety of pedestrians, bystanders, and property owners.
But are these huge revenue generators (traffic light cameras and other radar traps) really contributing in any significant way to road safety? The research indicates not.
Driver education is a much more effective tool at reducing road accidents than speed cameras often at innocuous locations whose main (if not sole) aim is to collect money for government coffers - and most of it is not even put back into road maintenance and road safety programs.
Fight back!

Traffic Speeding Tickets
- beating speeding tickets
Believe it or not, I have never recweived a traffic speeding ticket, although it is a matter of a huge amount of luck rather than excellent driving. Of course, I try to drive safely and within the speed limit, and follow all the road rules. I don't consciously speed, or zoom in and out of traffic, but I find that often when I glance down at the speedometer, I'm actually going over the speed limit.
I know that I will probably end up getting a traffic speeding ticket soon or later, even though I am not nearly as bad as many people that I know. Often it seems like the people that usually follow the speed limit are the ones that get caught the one time they decide to go a little faster.
My husband often drives too fast, although I must admit that he is otherwise a safe driver, and he always keeps within the speed limit when there are kids in the car with us. He has received a few speeding tickets over the years.
If you are snapped by a speed camera, then the issue of the ticket is automatic, but if you are stopped by a law enforcement officer, you might be lucky and get off if you are polite and have a plausible reason for speeding. Don't count on this, though - the officer is certainly entitled to issue you with a ticket regardless of your excuse, and usually will.

Traffic Violations
Of course, the best way to avoid traffic violations is obviously by abiding by the laws your state has set. Try not to speed and you won't end up with a speeding ticket. Pay attention to traffic lights and you won't end up running through a red light. It's common sense, really.
Okay, so say for argument's sake that you got caught going 67 in a 55 zone. On the face of it, this is not looking good. The traffic enforcement officer who pulled you over is likely to give you a traffic violation, let's face it.
However, if you speak to the officer respectfully and politely, you could be lucky. Traffic officers have dozens of opportunities every day to impose traffic violations. They are far more likely to hand them out to people who are rude and obnoxious to them, even if they were only going just over the speed limit. It's human nature.
And if you do receive a traffic violation, but feel that it's not valid, take it to court. That is always an option that is open to you. If you don't think you were speeding (or committing the offence you have been charged with), don't just pay the fine. Consider whether it is worth your while attending court to explain why you are not guilty. If you can prove you were not in the wrong, you just might get out of that ticket. Imagine what an amazing feeling that would be!
